Yeah, but then you run bigger hole piston... that was my point.. just trying to think what would be the difference...

Ha, not a shock absorber engineer.. I have no idea.. ha!

i notice that all the blue spacers are on top of your spring retainer on the shock piston rod, it should be UNDER the retainer.

Sheesh...think I was too caught up in trying to make the shocks look nice.....!

And to think I have built the shocks before for my DF03..haha! Thanks for the pointer toonz!

900 is too heavy damping for a buggy i guess....

But 900 oil was the oil that came with the Durga kit...and the stock piston holes are not TRF-style.....that's why I thought it was a good idea to fill the shocks with the supplied oil...... I really didnt like how soft my DF03 shocks were (and I still have not changed the oil in the shocks!)

I'll see how the DB01 handles (once the darn motor comes in) ......if it's too bouncy then I'll know what to do!

An overall view of my slow progress so far........

Looking good! Not my type of RC though, prefer shaft drive over belt drive.
It does look similar to the 501X though, it sux the steering linkage didnt fit...
You gonna race this thing? If if was me ID give those Losi XXX-4 guys a true tamiya challenge...

i know your point and that was what i thought too....that thick oil does makes it go wild on my DI hahahaha...

no idea why either......and when i use a thinner oil with these big holes, it became so soft....bottoms out even when i drop
it at 20cm height and that's not even 1 foot yet.....funny..maybe the flourine is too smooth .....

then i tried all the way to 1000-2000 and it just doesn't make any sense at all.....

so eventually i read that someone actually tried the TRF piston that will improve the shocks
and i bought it to try......and it makes sense after that......

tamiya gives small 2-hole to the DF02 shocks and yet big 2-hole to the DF03 shocks.......what's the rationale behind?
for us to experiment?

Haha, the steering linkage was my fault (trying to be a smarty pants ) but at least I got it working with my NauTamiya part

Nope I don't race, I'm more of a build -> play -> display kind of guy, which explains why my kits have more bling than Mr.T

900 or even 1000 is quite acceptable on a regular CVA but you won't see anyone using this thick oil
on their TRF shock set up, not even on those who use AE or Losi shocks.

the plastic piston is not even enough to cover the circumfrance of the cva cylinder so i guess that's really one BIG hole for a thick oil.....
im not sure if this analysis is right or wrong.....just using common sense...

anyway, give it a try, you might have success on this shocks with respect to the weight of this car.....

Hop - Ups

This appeared in the mail, 3 days after I ordered from RC Champ. I guess I was lucky - quite a number of people had problems with shipping with EMS.

Hop - Ups

4 Hop-ups:

1) DB01 Front One Way #54017
2) TRF501X Adjustable Belt Tensioner#53967
3) DB01 Slipper Clutch Set #54018
4) TRF501X Stabilizer Set#53963

I've installed all the hop-ups, and my suggestion is to install them in the order I listed. I didn't do it in that order and I found it to be quite messy.

DB01 Front One-Way Set

There will be three screws included in the set - to attach the pulley to the one-way housing. I decided to threadlock them-I dont see myself taking these two apart anytime.....

DB01 Front One-Way Set

My diff grease is alive. Everytime I open the cap the thing oozes out without me doing anything.

Smeared the grease well at the diff cups.
