I like a build thread like this one! Keep up the good work!

Just curious, though... it has a lot of hop-up parts.. howcome you did not go w/ a 501X to begin with?!

I would have just bought the 501X myself it would save you a little money anyhow...
The Durga is a 200 dollar car anyhow right?

It should have the same suspension and handling as the 501x but with 1)better balance due to the more even layout (501x's were apparently a bit left heavy) 2) also has a sealed driveline which makes it more reliable and less prone to worn belts and pulleys. By the time I've optioned mine up it's going to end up costing as much as a 501x WE but with those two extra points I'd put it ahead...will see soon enough anyway........

Nice watching your build Nauticar........seems those 'belt tentioners' are of doubious purpose..btw, how much height clearance would you say there is in the bay behind the motor (from the bottom of the chassis tray to the underside of the lexan body) ? I'm hoping a Novak Spread Spectrum B/L ESC will fit

Cool, didnt know about the sealed driveline, kinda like the XXX-4 right, or even better...

Did i say 'sealed' ? ment sealable (one or two small gaps apparently).... Yes, I think of it as if the TRF501x and XXX-4 got funky !

Hey LB! Think I replied to a similar question earlier - didnt go for a TRF in the first place cos 1) It's more expensive and 2) I wont bear to bash a TRF kit!

Hey buttmonkey1969, thanks for the kind words! Hope my build thread has some purpose! I dont know much about the 501X ...but looking at the chassis you've got a point about the weight distribution.......the DB01 uses the full weight of the battery pack to balance out the motor and esc......the 501X tries to balance a servo+receiver with a motor and ESC....

About the handling I guess it all boils down to the tire and suspension setup..... and driver skill (gotta work on that! )

I read up in other forums - about those belt tensioners, it's not really necessary. I bought them together to save on shipping (like many other hop ups!)

I have no idea on the height clearance - I've not had time to even drill the Lexan! I'll do it tonight once I get back from work

This is a public service DB01 announcement

The DB01 uses the same wheels as the TRF501X. This means normal hex hub wheels cannot be used (eg DF03) on the DB01.

Well, actually, you CAN use them, with some modification....but they will change the overall wheelbase width. Which means you'll probably end up screwing the TRF based handling.

For more information, proceed to Towerhobbies.com and type in DB01 in their product search field. They have info on the wheel type in the product description.

Actally the b44, XXX-4,BJ4 WE, Hotbodies D4, Acacemy SBV2, and Durga and 501X all use the same front hex design.
They are racing buggies.

Refer to pic! .... it's about 1 1/4th inch clearance max from the lowest part (of the lexan) at the ESC mounting area....
