I know it is a little bit late now. But why did you not just mount the ESC on Velcro? Instead of cutting a hole in that nice new chassis?

Refer to pic! .... it's about 1 1/4th inch clearance max from the lowest part (of the lexan) at the ESC mounting area....

Sigh, the things I have to do to make use of the PC connectivity of the MM Esc.

Hole is not too shabby I think (considering my drilling skills)..... and I used the rubber pieces meant for protecting your floors from being scratched by furniture legs as the plug..... just over a buck for the whole sticker sheet !

Looking good so far. Bashing it is gonna be ballistic since your using the 7700Kv. .

Heh - mine's only a 5700kV. 7700kV is a little to fast for me!

Nope, So I also have a big fat hole in my chassis that I feel bad about

To be perfectly honest...It never occurred to me to use velcro until I saw all the other people do it.

I thought using velcro was a good idea too and that's what I did on my M04....... but with brushless power the ESC kept coming off everytime I hit something......now one of the very thin orange wires is hanging by a microinch of solder to the board....... one more hard impact and that's it. Granted the chassis design of the M04 is different and somewhat leaves components unprotected....but the concept of inertia is the same

So from then on I vowed NEVER to use velcro on RC components. Those ESCs arent cheap.... I'm glad other people have had better luck with velcro - but not me

You would be the first person that I have ever heard say the ESC was not secure using velcro. But yeah, if it comes down to a choice between a little hole in the chassis and a broken MM ESC..... The a hole it will be!!

ordering today from Stella (HK) if the finances can be arranged ~ spending a ridiculous amount on hop ups !! ... going ALL titanium (screw set, turnbuckles, ball socket set, hinge pins LOL)....but doubtful if it'll get here (Oz) b4 Xmas tho....
.......still not sure which esc to get...heard some thermaling issues with the GTB Spread Spectrum....but may get one anyway (sounds the best - on paper anyway)...what's your opinion ?

I only use velcro on RC bodies. Shoe goo the esc or use double-sided tape.
Velcro does work if your not going over 40MPH.

Looks great!! It should be a good buggy!

Setup sheet for a Tamiya, wa!! First time I have seen it! ha! (but then I never owned any TRF cars... I bet those would have setup sheet..)

i dont recall seeing a setup sheet with my TA-03R-TRF, but then again that is an old model.. nice informative thread by the way.
