During a pattern contest a couple of months ago my Yak decided to fly the sequence without my assistance. After retrieving it from the shallow end of the lake and searching through the mud for the engine I was able to rebuild it. The front of the aircraft was gone and the wood was soaked through by the time I found it. YS cleaned the motor at no charge and the only part I had to buy from QQ was the cowl. It would have been easier to just buy a new plane but there is less flying time now where I live so a rebuild was in order. I had to replace some warped balsa and I did take some weight out of the rudder, elevator and the wing tips of the plane. Before the battery pack was placed in the engine compartment but now it sits above the wing tube for balance so I was able to remove enough weight from the tail to make it worth the effort. My scale isn't exact but I'm somewhere in the upper 10 lbs, just under 11. I like the brio scheme and covered it in monokote and then repainted the blue and red on the replacement cowl. The yellow on the cowl and wheel pants is a close enough match to the yellow monokote for me and a lot less work and weight to just leave factory yellow on the fiberglass parts. I'm hoping for a 50 degree day sometime this winter for a test flight. Oh, and I now have a 2.4 receiver in the plane. Should keep a stubborn plane in line now. Jim

Love the Brio scheme, good job, and your messy workshop makes me feel so much better about mine. LOL

It was really messy just before the pictures. The two trash bags are full of all the covering waste that was littering the floor. Now that this one is done I'm going to recover my generation I Yak 102 inch that now has 500 plus flights on it. I'm going to replace some wood in the wings that has been rattling around from a deadstick in a cornfield, beef of the landing gear area, fit a new canopy to it and again try to find some areas where a little wood can be removed. Now that I have one brio scheme pattern on hand I hope it will be a little easier by just enlarging my scale.. Jim
