Hey I'm looking at this video system for two applications, one in foam airplane, just curious as to range I can expect? Anyone got one of these?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/LCD-Wireless-Handheld-Security-Surveillance-Camera-L-A4_W0QQitemZ300175165555QQihZ020QQcategoryZ48632QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The other question is a little off topic but would like to use the system in my boat too..

The other application is possibily using in a stream on my 22" rc jet drive boat, what kind of range could I expect through stream with some bush along the sides and curves in the stream?

Thanks in advance.

Ivan.

Thanks for the link but after a little more research it would seem the ebay one I posted would be good for 300m versus the one ya posted at 150m.

Even still I think I want more range.

Am going through a lot of the older threads, good info, but geez it's a lot of info.

Thanks.

The system I have cost around $500.00 a few years ago. I have seen plenty of other posts on this forum and others and I think you can get them a lot cheaper now. Here is a video taken from my R/C Tunnel Hull on You Tube.

images that is pretty freaking cool, nice video.

Am going to go with cheap 200mw system for now, will upgrade later to 1000mw later. Hell for 80 bucks here, thats a deal regardless.

I know it's cheap, but have you consider the quality? I don't how good are products from singapore but you have to take that into consideration, but on the other hand if something bad happens you won't care because you got it at a cheap price.

Zactly but it's stated to be 420 lines, better than I would have hoped, I thought 380 lines would be the norm for this price bracket.

Dont get to hung up about lines of resolution, they only tell a small part of the story. Color and light handling, etc. etc. are just as important.

Just looking at lines is like saying the car with the more Horsepower is always the best.... There is a lot more to it than that.

I understand. The Range video site I think you had suggested is offering 380 line cameras, if they are of a quality provider that they seem to be, then there is obviously more to it than just lines. I had bought 380 lines micro and bullet style cameras for my car 7-8 years ago for racing. So would have thought that cameras would have moved up the next level by now. Guess just a better focus on color and such.

I have tested out the camera tentatively. The color does seem a little off but this was a 2 min test, might beable to do range and more in a little bit.

Will update thread either today or tomorrow.

Ivan.

Thanks for the pleasent response.

Edit point, just checking a little on range. Managed 100m before battery crapped out on me. Will update range once I get a buddy to come by, going back and forth is a pita in the snow.

As for the color, I was right, the camera is using the led's, whatever they are that are used for night time, so as a dark color comes right up to the camera it turns white.

I'm only getting a short time of good video with fresh Alkaline batteries, these systems suck the batteries down quickly. I haven't tried Li po batteries or Nimh bats for comparison yet.

Whooowee!! The camera, cables etc not including the cable for the 9v battery weighs in at a hefty 120g . Am going to lighten it up maybe tonight, but need an answer to this question. Is it a bad idea to put the transmitter right beside the camera? As this is my intent on losing weight. If I can put em right beside each other then I can reduce it easily to 42g, with removal of more of the camera casing, I can reduce it further by 5-10g by cutting away some of the unnecessary camera casing.

Also if some tech guy wants to weigh in, should I leave the transmitter completely encased? Is it necessary, does it improve reception? I'm sure I can find the answer buried somewhere but would be easier if someone knowledgeable could chime in.

Thanks in advance

Ivan.

Oh yea pics of internals and camera.

oh and i have not done line of sight range yet, still need a buddy to drop by but won't happen till at least the weekend, as I still have a few exams.

How are all the components connecting together? I hope not by standard RCA connectors, their bulky! It sure looks light to me.
