Nitro engine makers should fear this:

http://teamnovak.com/products/conversion_kit/index.html

they'll no point in using engines, no more noise/fuel/pipe/brakes/clutch / sticky dirt.

just pure power, some of us will have difficulty admitting this

yes there are some people who will want this but its not going to kill nitro engines

most of the people into the nitro stuff are into it because of the engines!
look at the 1/10 sedans, you have a choice of niro or electric & ther nitro class is far from dead!

a 1/8 buggy doesn't really lend itself particularly well to these kind of conversions as the C of G isn't exactly ideal with the weight of the cells right out there away from the centreline

yeah its a good conversion but not for me thanks

true but without starting equipment and without receiver battery it is really difficult to resist the electric 1:8 buggy.

They work just as well as the nitro versions if not better.

It will convert some racers but def. not all.

It won't take a very hard impact to dislodge one of those pack holders. They are barely mounted to the chassis and mud guards hardly serve as any protection. I wonder how it would handle with that much weight away from the center of the buggy.

My first question is what kind of run times does that offer with a few 7.4v lipos? NIMH cells are not even an option or the thing is going to be a tank. 2 6-7 cell sub-c nimh packs? No way.

I like all of the things that come with nitro including the mess and additional parts. I don't need instant gratification with little work. I prefer to test, tune and experiment with all of the variables that nitro has.

As long as my track runs nitro buggies, thats what I will race. If they stop someday and switch to electric, I guess ill have to follow suit if I want to race.

Well the C of G wont be affected if they are placed evenly away from the center, and if anything it would probably be more stable.

But as 1/8th buggies are meant to be noisey and the green police dont likeit, that's the way I'm staying.

Can you adjust the break bias front to rear?.... No.... then it won't replace nitro motors. Can you imagine electric Nascar?... how bout electric drag racing....yeah, me neither...

No doubt electric brushless cars will gain popularity, but replacing nitro is about as likely to happen as electric passenger jets...

I have 2 1/10 electric off road, 2 1/10 electric on road, and 2 nitro 1/8 off road....I think that the nitro engines will never disappear, because, i think, there is a lot of people (like me) that like nitro engines because they run with fuel, needs more mantenience, and somehow are closer to real cars, in fact that was the reason because i start with nitro engines, i didn't have the time to keep working and playing with my toy car, so i sell it, save some money and bought this.

What i mean, if i bought an electic buggy, i've miss the 80% of the fun, that is the noise, smell, smoke, the tune up (engine and brakes), etc....for a lot of people will also be a nice way to just get the fun with less work so for some people that will be great.

Also this will make that some people that don't have 1/8 off road, will start buying this stuff and there will be more people in the 1/8 category, that would mean, i think, even more products and design in the 1/8 buggies category....

Um, but I like nitro buggies. And I don't like electric. How is what you linked better for me? I want noise, I want smelly fuel, I want brakes, I want to hear 40,000 little explosions a minute, but MOST of all, I want 45 minute plus mains and NO BATTERY CHARGING!

Kill nitro? I don't think so, but it's great for those that DON'T like the things I listed above.

Great article, and it demonstrates my points very well. I like the idea, but it's not likely to de-thrown the nitros any time soon.

Guys i dont think it will replace Nitro....... But I definitely see alot of Nitro guys also buying a brushless machine to add to the collection.. most hobbyinst will own pretty much anything if its new and different..... I would love to have a brushless truggy.. But for jumping it better have front/rear bias... locking up a motor thru the center diff for breaking would suck......
