We have been flying the dogfighter spad at my club. The problem with the plane is you cannot start them on the ground. We have been starting these planes on picnic tables with the prop hanging over the edge of the table. This becomes quite a job for one person, having one hand on the plane at all times. Also the streamer tends to get tangled up around the picnic table. What do other people/clubs use to hold there spads. This is my first post by the way and I would like to say Hi to everyone.

Hey there,

Good to have you aboard. Just a few different ideas for you. A lot of guys take milk crates and tie-wrap a couple of pvc uprights in two corners of the crate and use that. Others like me actually build a pvc stand around (or on) something else that will carry the other needed items to the flightline. I'll try to take a pic of mine and post it here soon so that you can see what I'm referring to. The milk crate works well and it's probably the quickest and easiest. Hope that helps

Here's a shot of the fightline at last year's NE Nats:

There are several stands that folks use. Most are made from whatever folks have lying around.

Here's mine made of 1/2" PVC conduit pipe and some fittings:

Keep the streamer rolled up until ready to launch. Hold the streamer to the vertical stab by inserting a rod down into the coro, and have the roll of streamer over this rod. When ready to launch, just pull up the rod and the streamer falls off the stab.
