I just replaced a gear on the 5#10,and now it doesn't have enough power to lift ?,and yes I made sure the battery was fully charged! This is my first Walkera, and I can tell you,I am not very impressed comapred to the e-sky heli's

This might be a silly question, but did you make sure that A Blades are on the upper rotor and B on the lower one ? ...
Just in case! I did that once with my firsts coaxials.

Anyways, the 5#10 rocks!, I have almost all lamas... you can't compare, they feel like toys

Hey Guys,

Jason here from MaxAmps.com . As you've seen msdavid has found that our single 1550 cell works well with this heli. Just so you know if you call (1-888-654-4450) in the order for this cell or e-mail Alex@maxamps.com we can make a single cell with leads and plug of your choice and even shrink wrap it up for you as well. The price will relfect the cost of the plug, wire and wrap but you will be able to just charge and go.

Best regards and have fun flying.........

Jason

I have a problem with my 2.4ghz 5 10 for some reason the higher blades arent spinning when I give it 3/4 throttle if I look closely the motor and big plastic circle thing (spur iguess) arent spinning but if I go half throttle the blades start spinning again? any advise thanks.
also i noticed that the pinion (the metal thing on motor that rotates the platic spur , not sure of the names am a noob)on the lower motor is very very close to the upper platic spur and maybe doing damage to it.
maybe it needs adjustment like i said im very new to this so plz help and hopefully in a very basic language as I dont know the names of stuff yet.
thanks

I have the same problem with one of my 5#10's. Try hard right rudder as you lift off quickly, and then center the rudder and both blades turn (at least on my unit).

the weird thing is that it wasnt doing this before.
I hit it with my carpet but very minor crash but with the canopy off could this be the 4 in 1?
i doubt it but im a little concerned about the metal thingy on the lower motor because its very very close to the upper plastic spur and maybe doing damage to the mesh im not sure though, it just may be like that from factory ill post a pic on monday as my camera isnt here.
thanks guys ill try what you guys said.

Cridom,

It sounds to me like either the motor has loosened and come away from the gear (the black round thing) or it is too tight and thus not able to turn without high power. Same remedy for both; The motor has two very small screws that hold it onto the frame. You will need to loosen them, adjust the motor so that it is making better contact with the gear, and then tighten the screws.

I would also strongly suggest checking for any abnormal wear on the gears and always make sure all screws are tight before each flight.

Blue skies!

I took the motor out and tested it and it would stop at high throttle so is not the gear adjustment but as DocBob said if I turn right rudder hard and then center it would work properly.
so im just gonna have to do that i guess , thanks for the tip though.
thanks everyone here you have helped me a lot

Now I have a similar problem
its like the upper rotor motor spins faster as i turn the rudder right and stops when I turn left, this make my heli lift if I turn right and go dowm when i turn left.
before this I could make the heli spin on its axis withough loosing altitud but now its all weird.
plz help me

I'm having a combination of some of the other folks' problems here and it's driving me crazy. When I first got my Walkera 5#10, using the original charger and 3 batteries I purchased and used with it, I could fly it non-stop for almost 10 mins. and no problems at all.

I have no clue here, but now after fully charging the batteries (doesn't matter which of the 3) I can get the heli. to go up and hover just below the ceiling in my garage (which I did before with no problem) for about 30 seconds but never longer than a minute. Then it slowly will descend (even if I go to full power) until it gently lands on the floor. At full power I can, at best, get it a few inches off the ground and that's it. Per an earlier post, I did make sure all the trim levers are in the neutral position each time before I turn on the transmitter and then plug in the batt.

What's additionally weird, is that under this condition, the only way I can get the heli. to climb at all is if I move the throttle all the way up into the upper right corner. Sadly, when this happens, the heli spins wildly to the right and will go up but can't be controlled. I have never crashed or landed hard. I have checked the pinion gears and how the teeth are touching the big gears and that's all fine. The motors don't even get hot. Mildly warm. I have heatsinks on both.

I have also checked the blades and they are parallel/level when in motion. My thoughts were that maybe the receiver was bad and so I purchased and installed a new one (not terribly stupid as I now have a spare anyway) and also thought the charger that came with it was dog-meat and so I purchased a LiPro imax B6 charger, and 3 new batteries, charged them with the new charger, even the original 3 batts with the new charger, too, and I get the same result. Should I discharge the Lipo's with my charger and then charge them up? I also have a spare pair of motors but if it was the motors I would think it wouldn't lift off at all to begin with...........

I'm frustrated here, and would appreciate any insight anyone has. I have poured over tons of info. about this heli. on this forum and I'm clueless as to the next step I can take.

Hi flipside,

Looks like people here are having the same problems (ie not having enough lift). If you will go back a few pages from this post you will notice that I had the same problem. I managed to fix mine by removing the motors of the assembly and just running them off load.
While doing that, I played around with the sensivity pot on the receiver. At first, the motors where running at different speeds and at times would just not run at all. I got pissed off and started playing around with the pots...And next thing I knew, they were both running
at the same speed when I hit the throttle and were also running at high speed.

I put them back on and never had the same problem again. You never know mate. Give it a go. You've got nothing to lose.

I know how frustrating it can be trying to figure out whats wrong with it. By the way, before I fixed it, I also got a spare rx and motors.
But I'm still running the thing with the old bits. Flies like a charm. The best 150 bucks I spent!

Goodluck!

Cheers

Ausaero.

Hi all.

just upgraded my 5#10 with a nice canopy, a set of Xtreme blades and Heatsinks.

P.s ausaero i tweaked my sensativity/gyro gain so now it doesnt drift ound in circles any more but only problem i that i get serious tail
wag. shes fish tailing all over and thats seriously hampering perforamnce. p.s. i dont have the 2.4g version.

also i have a weight problem due to the upgrades, short of adding weight to the tail (which i dont really want to do) im a little stumped.

Will post some pics as soon as i load em of the camera.
