I can't decide. Does anybody have some insight. I have the 52" Fusion. It was/is my first profile. It is all I fly any more. I have 10 planes in the hanger gathering dust since the Fusion came along. So do I get the bigger/better Fusion or go a different direction with the Yak? I don't think I will be disapointed either way.

David

Check out the OMP forum, I asked the same question and got some good answers. I decided to go with the Yak arf, I will probably get both eventually. I'm about half way thru the build and I have to say the plane is absolutely beautiful. Mine has been going together easy but it came minus the CD instruction manual so I downloaded the instructions and have been assembling from that.

Yes, there is a thread in the OMP Forum on this one. Basically the Yak is a pure 3D funfly style plane and the Fusion is a pattern/3D plane or "freestyle" as we call it now.

Thanks for the replys. I went over and read the thread you talked about. Good info there. I still don't know what I want. I have never owned a pure 3D machine. I have flown a few OMP Katanas. I must say that I prefer my 52" fusion to the small Katana. The larger Katana was Saito 1.00 powered and was a joy to fly. I would put it neck and neck with my Fusion in the fun to fly catagory. So i guess I am still up in the air but leaning toward the Yak. If my 52" Fusion was gone I would get the 67" hands down. Since I still fly it maybe the Yak would be something different.

Thanks For the help.David

Dave if you really liked the 52 Fusion then you would be amazed at teh 67" Fusion. Bigger always flys better and the bigger Fusion will put "permagrin" on your face. But don't let me change your mind as the new 65" yak beats any other 90 size fun fly hands down in quality and performance.

All I can say is I have both......and fly both at the field! Typically I fly the Fusion when I really want to practice new sequences and precision stuff and if I just want to relax and abuse a plane I pick the Yak.

Well after going back and forth(even up to the last minute) I bought the 67" Fusion. It is what I wanted from the start. I am going to get the Yak kit at a later date. My 1.25 awaits it's new mate.
Thanks for the help.

The Fusion came today. Man is this thing big compared to the 52". Do you guys recomend strengthening the nose before assembly? I read a few post that talked about injecting Gorilla under the mount. This seems like the time to do it before I balance it. If I should do it please give me a little more info. I have never used Gorilla glue on a plane.

Thanks David

Dave, If you plan to run a 4 stroke then make sure your props are balanced and the engine is tuned properly. Unlike 2s engines the 4s variety are not forgiving for bad tuning or props. They will vibrate excessively. Like all ARFs it is a good idea to go over the entire airframe to look for areas that might need a little extra attention. This is especially true when using very strong engines. I would recommend checking the engine area, wing tube sockets, wing attachment locations, and where you glue the tail on. Be sure all areas are properly glued and secured. Some extra CA around the wing tube sockets to ribs and more importantly the wing tube sockets to shear webbing is a good tip. Injecting the engine mount area with Gorilla glue is up to you but would be a nice tip as well. Vibration kills an airframe.....especially a light high performance airframe.

Thanks for the tips Mike. I will do as you suggested. I have a Saito 1.25 ready to go on this bird. I hope to use a 15x6APC on it. The engine could swing a little more but as you say vibration is a problem. I have switched to a Zinger 15X4 on my Saito 82. It has a little less pull than the APC15x4W but it spools up so much faster you don't get those first 5-6 power pulses shaking the air frame. The Zinger weighs about 1/3 of what the APC weighs. The 1.25 has 12 tanks through it so I am ready.
I will do a post when I have 10 or so flights on the 67". I am anxious to so how much better it is than the 52". It has some big shoes to fill if it is going to out fly the 52".

Thanks Again,
David

David, a 15-4 I think is way too small for the Saito 125. I'd say at least a 16-4 and maybe even a 16-6. Many run a 16-6 on the YS110 but I like the 16-4W the best as I get much better throttle respose and I don't overspeed the plane with the higher pitch. the plane is plenty fast enough already.

The 16x6APC is to much for my 1.25 on 15%. The spool up is awful. I have a 15x8 on it now but it is on a bipe. I don't want a 8" pitch on a 3D plane. I may try the 16x4W. I just don't want to feed the 1.25 30% all the time. this is why I thought the 15x6 might do the trick. I agree with you the 15x4 is to small. Like any new plane I guess i will have to buy a few and try them.

Dave, try a 16x6 in a Xoar, Pro Zinger, or MAS Scimitar. The wood prop should bring your spool up back on 15%

Thanks AK. I looked at the DA web site. I think I will try a wood Menz or Xoar.
