PzWest---Panzers at Portage and Main in January! Don't you miss those days.....?? I'm from Regina Saskatchewan originally. I know what you mean about the toboggan. You haven't lived till you've ridden an iced-up toboggan down "Garbage Hill".....!

Thank Leo2A6,

Nice video, was it stuck in the slush at the end of the yard or did it get some snow in the tracks! I know different grains of sand gives different problems I had not thought about the snow!

And all toboggan sure, what about hickybobban any of you do that growing up as a kid?

killick64 yes I do remember those days Portage and Main supposed to be the coldest spot in Canada when the wind gets whipping there. But you know -52F was a nice day in the winter there totally different from here at 30F above here you shiver and shake when you come into the house there you warm up almost instantly. Hardly ever was able to make a snowball there in winter snow just wouldn't pack

5 inches since midnight last night and still building. Its the fine powdery stuf too. Too loose for tanks and the Big Leo is down for the winter.

You never WAXED your toboggans? My dad taught me that trick on out first one, an old huge 6' wooden one. I thought it was a lot of work rubbing the warm ski wax onto the bottom, but when I saw the problems others had, I volunteered every first snow to do it. Ended up doing it for years on my cross-country skis until they began making those fancy coated 'no-wax' ones.

For offroading (RC) we used ArmorAll on the buggy and monster tires to keep the mud from caking up... wonder if a quick dip in that would help the tracks, that or a few sprays of Future? Never hurts to try, eh? Gonna try the ArmorAll on my Blizzard.

And I did try the Circa 1850 SoftStrip on the raw styrene... NO PROBS. This is the low-fume stuff, not the regular. Soaked a caked-on helmet from a Tamiya kit in it... for 24 hours. No problem, and the caked paint came right off with a light brush with a toothbrush.

You're in Ottawa, Uber? Small world. And I agree, a tad nippy to be out. And I'd have to go down to the park to get some decent snow for any vids... even if my camera had its new battery.

Well a word on running tanks outside in cold to extreme cold weather. Before you run your tank remove the battery and put it in an inside pocket then take the tank outside and sit it on something free of snow and let it cool down. After it has cooled down take the battery out of your inside pocket and put it back into the tank. Now snow won't melt on the tracks wheels etc. When a kid living in Winnipeg Manitoba when we took our tobogans outside we never put them directly onto the snow till the tobogan was cold as the snow otherwise the snow would melt and then freeze to the bottom of the tobogan

This is great advice.

"Cold soak" or acclimate to the ambient temps is essential to good running at extreme temps.
