Hello, all.

I've been lurking here for quite some time, and have learned a lot of great information from many different people.

I recently purchased a Raptor 30 v2 kit, and have been having a lot of fun with my Dad putting it together.

We're both engineers, and haven't had too much trouble yet. The manual stinks, as many others have said. It's more of an exploded parts diagram with random comments. Using Michael's information from http://www.raptortechnique.com , the critical information left out of the manual hasn't burned us yet.

This leads me to my question:

How are ball link pliers used, and how are ball links attached/detached? I have the Mavrikk green-handled pliers, and can't quite figure out how they work!

It's taken us two evenings so far, going extremely slowly and checking/verifiying each part before it is installed. We're at step 6 on the project (Main Frame Assembly Part 2), at the point where the linkage between the Elevator Arm Parallel Lever and the Elevator Control Lever is installed onto the Collective Pitch Control Arm.

However, neither of us are quite sure how to attach the links to the balls with the pliers.

I did a fair amount of searching, but can't find any good resource which adequately explains the basics of ball links and their associated tools/techniques.

I'm documenting our experience here:

http://www.tonekids.com/rc_helis/seclabchopper/index.shtml

If you get a chance to check what we've been doing and offer any ridicule or suggestions, please do so. I'm very much grateful for all of the advice received so far.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

-Paul

Hi Zeremba:

Rick Fair wrote an article on this in the Beginner section, page 3 under the post: Really Silly Questions: I could not explain it better, although no question is too silly, see his reply, basically you use the single prong to punch out the ball link and reverse the pliers to squeze them in together.......

Hope this or the other article helps..... Good Luck.

Thanks a lot. I must have missed that. Looked through the beginner questions, but didn't associate that topic with the use of ball link pliers.

I'll pay more attention now :-)

THANKS

-Paul
