Just checked Fox's web site and there's two new CL models. A ceramic variation on the traditional Stunt 35 and a new ceramic 60. The ceramic Stunt 35 claims to be 9% lighter and 300-500rpm faster. Both are somewhat pricy.

To my way of thinking the Norvel system was the better way to do it with the integral cooling fins instead of a slip in liner because there was a direct heat transfer path. But whichever way it's done I believe ceramics will be the next step up from ABx types. Saturn Hobbies here in Australia started doing replacement ceramic liners (made in Russia) for quite a wide range of engines many years ago but sadly Tony Cincotta has closed his business for some reason .

As I remember reading, He closed the business down after he got robbed for the second time.

In any respect of who did what first, it is nice to Fox exploring new ideas.

That .60 does seem a bit pricey and not in immediate future but where it goes from here is anybodys guess.

cheers, Graham

A friend ordered one yesterday to go with a Strega...I'll report on how it handles when it arrives.

Several club members and I are expecting to receive some of the new P/L sets shortly. Fox said they have to match up the liners and pistons to get the correct fit before sending any more out.

The Russians produced a ceramic liner Fox 35 seven years ago? Amazing......

Not surprised. They designed the DC-3 and produced them for years. And the B-17 and B-29. Actually, lots of things that they got their hands on.

If I'm remembering correctly the Russian piston/cylinder replacements for the Fox 35 were an ABC configuration and not ceramic. Somebody in Australia was producing a ceramic replacement for a while but the actual size went down to around a .32 displacement. From what I hear they are extremely durable.

These engines look Russian in the design and casting; certainly not regular Fox casting.

Not clear enough for a pebble? Russians did the ceramic sleeves at least 7 years ago.
