Correction noted, there always seems to be at least "one" in every group.
HP, what are you equipped for besides heckling from the sidelines?

Not sure what you mean CP, but I’ve probably forgotten more about high-speed models than most of you will ever know. And I haven’t forgot very much.

What is so marvelous about you is that you do a very good job of reminding us about that fact about every 6 weeks or so.
Kind of like "Old Faithful" going off.

Speedboy,
Well.... You've made me a believer..... That thing is way too fast for what it is. Good job. The math still doesn't add up but the dopler looks good.
Might try gettin it on the rader gun going away from you. Coming toward you gives inaccurate readings.....
Have you re-timed that rossi? done anything to it at all? Porting?
After you exceed the max rpm of any motor your using energy to spin it faster... effectivly using it as an air brake... Might try something really aggesive, like a 8.75x9.5. Less drag at highspeed and fatter pitch. Use the motor longer in the dive.... Very well might suck to get off the ground though. Long, long run way.... Not a whole lot of static thrust for such a big plane... If you send me a PM I'm give you an address "snail mail" for a really super aggressive prop. 9x12 carbon....

170mph is no great achievement.

....oh, really now ? A guy takes a hundred dollar box of balsa....builds a common sport plane
not a race plane....then adds a sport motor with a generic "mini tuned pipe"....and gets up to
speeds where most sport planes flutter to bits....

....and it's "no great achievement"? I got news for ya'....it is one helluva ahievement !!!

FBD.

It IS one helluva great achievement...I believe rmenke has a Webra-55 that puts up insane numbers as well.

I am a big Rossi fan especially when Super-Dave is there to tune her a bit, I would have to see it to believe it is faster than my Patriot with the Jett-50 but you never know.

I always avoided speed guessing when I had a somewhat quick sport ship. No matter what you do Troy and Mark will show up with a little electric that is 80MPH faster than anything else there anyways...

Cheers to pushing that Italian Stallion Rossi-53 and Patriot to the limits I wish I had not sold my Rossi-53...oh and my Webra-50GT, West-50, Rossi-45, OS-50SX

That sounds pretty arrogant. I know CP has a way of making friends with so many people but this was directed at most of us. Maybe it is time for you to say something brilliant so we know it is true.

Good idea SJ, this is getting far too antisocial for this forum! Where's the holiday cheer anyhow?

Lessee..

One side says no way it does 170, and has information they believe says why it won't. That's fine, the specs go against what many people here know and/or believe. When I watched the vid, the engine did not sound like it was making any remarkable rpm at midfield of the pass. 16k? 18k tops?

The other side says it does, and there is a radar gun readout to say it did. Maybe the radar gun is wacked, maybe these particular readings are in error, maybe... maybe it went 170? I dunno.

I say "whatever". Have a spiked egg nog and chill. Out of eggnog? Heck, just have the spike then..

No matter how fast it was going, the color scheme sure is ****in'.

It would be interesting to see what the top speed is with open exhaust and crank case pressure. My Webra .50 will run best like this with an open header. With any project like this the fun can begin with experimenting.

WOW! I did not catch that post by "Highplains". I am relatively sure that Highplains is smarter than I when it comes to Speed and RC Engine stuff, but he is in a large group that includes almost all the posters on this thread. It is VERY arrogant and such a condescending thing to say in the presence of Flyboy dave, Combatpigg, MJD, Vicman, Bob27, Mike Connor, etc.

I bet I could fly all your guys ships though

I am on the side I suppose that says I do not believe the 170 claim but who cares? Seriously we are talkin an RC Airplane, pretty much a toy. If you are having fun who cares?

Read any of Wayne's (Speed Junky) posts and you will get the idea.

This is the juciest thread though since the guy asked what would make his P-51 faster a 2cy. or 4 cy.

Hi samtech :

The engine is 100% stock , I did not modified nothing.

few days ago I cut an 10x9 to 9x9 , in my next fly I want prube it and see what hapens.

By other side , do you think a 9x10 apc original is too much prop for thi
