Matt,

That will probably depend on just how many people the AMA can get to join the P/F classification. Right now, I'm thinking that we (mainstream membership) will have to subsidize the new P/F publication 100%

This mean our dues will go up again?

Yes Ronnie your AMA "Diamond" member ($58 rich guys) dues will go up. The Diamond members will subsidize every facet of the Parkflyer program. The AMA Coal members (Parkflyers) will take their collective $29 and throw a big keg party featuring Guns and Roses. Coal members will also have first right of refusal to operate at all Diamond member fields. Diamond members will be responsible for cleaning the porta potties of at all Coal members fields. Diamond members must salute Coal members and may only begin or end each spoken sentence to a Coal member with Yes Mazza Sir.

Whatever worst case scenario you can think of please feel free to post it in this thread moving forward since we found out the price will be set at $29. Let's really open the controversy flood gates!

What this doen not address is the accounting for 2007 Open Members signing up for PF Tier.

AHH yes, the bane of politics, the old unintended consequence.

Anybody wanna guess how many current full members are going to drop down to a PF??

Anybody wanna guess how long it takes the AMA to try to close that loophole (and how many full members will be lost before they close it)?

EDIT Can a current AMA member renew as a park flyer??

Well at least it's only bad news for you and good news for myself and many others who are going to take advantage of the program. Heck I think even Kidepoxy is going to signup too. That makes 2 so far!

Don't worry about me, I spend the (30 dollar per year) difference every week on kerosene, I will be just fine!

Glad the 30 bucks a year is helping you out though, I know every little bit helps!!

Well let's see $30 ... yeah that's about what I spend every day on my train just to get to work. And let's just say I make a much better multiplier of that dollar amount at the end of every day. I'm all about great return on investments.

But Matt I could care less about the money, it's about the program. I don't need a single thing from the AMA and never have. I just want to be AMA Parkflyer member #1, that's it. I want to wear that number proudly in my RCU Sig file that so people think I am some kind of AMA demigod. That's all I want.

Edited for no reason at all. Just so I could have it at the bottom of my post

Well I know DM was in support of the parkflyer program without a cost reduction. Now I don't see how the program could be launched at $58, unless they have something else up their sleeve. So, let's see what you think the "normal rate" will be.

Well Dion, I see that you have figured out how manipulate the system to settle at the result you want to see for the sake of posterity, even in a stupid poll.
That's not fair play by a long shot, IMHO.
That's FWIW, regardless of how little W it may be to you.
Tell me I'm wrong - in thinking that originator of a poll in this forum can change the outcome retroactively per his will.
Also, provide a cite to where DM said he supported "the parkflyer program without a cost reduction."

Hey it is great to see people get the most out of public transporation! Way to get out there and try to better yourself!

Yeah I know public transportation is a little sketchy out there due to your shaky foundation, but where I live it's a way of life. No red lights, no traffic jams and so forth. But whenever I want to go over top of the traffic, I can just put that $30 towards a 1/4 tank of gas in my largest flying toy.

Abel Dave made that comment in RCU candidate forum, it's no longer there. But it's not too far off the one you posted.

So there is going to be a hardcopy PF publication? Why wouldn't there just be a monthly column in MA?

I do not see why they couldn't do that instead of a new mag. It could be as big as the computer shopper magazines used to be and we would have plenty of reading through the whole month.

I emailed Joyce my thoughts on the whole IDEA a long time ago when it first came up. I got back one of the nastiest E-mails I've ever got. Basically it said take it or lump it - it was going thru whether I liked it or not. I really didn't care for the attitude at all. If she felt that way she would have been better off to just not reply. I fly here at home and am fully insured so I just let me membership lapse this last year and really didn't miss it since I didn't go to a fly in or Joe Nall this year.

If it's not about money then why let the Park Flyers pay a full membership fee like everyone else?

Is it not a model?
Does it not fly?
Are they not going to promote modeling?

Well that's what the A, M and A stand for in AMA.....

rcuman-
you got the right idea with the old Computer Shopper bit.

Why not get a magazine like the way CS used to be: Practicly a phonebook full of 20page Fry's ads and all the mom&pops... and the occasional article. Just replace the 20 page Frys ad with Tower, add in some dozen page Hobby Lobby & HobbyShack... I mean 'HobbyPeople' ads, and a bunch of full pagers for mom&pop shops, and print it on newspaper pages instead of glossy.

No problemo to throw another PF shrimp on that barbie... Presto, 48 pages more of PF sparkie $29 goodness & ads

But then, that kind of magazine would not run in the red,
and that kind of thing aint popular with certain folks.

Has anyone counted up all the PF-Fields the PF Tier members will sign up to fly at?
So far I'm up to... 0
How many PF-Fields do you guys count?

Where can they fly? At the PF-Fields.
How many PF-Fields do they have enticing them to join? ....uh, none?
Where are these PF-Fields going to come from? One guy mentioned a bunch of standard fields converting.

Thats just great.
Hard enough to get a place to fly, and harder to keep the place to fly, now members of the AMA will be closing down AMA fields (to open PF-Fields... too bad for noisey plane members, buh-bye)

So to go along with guessing how many 2007 Open members will convert to save $30,
How man standard fields will we lose to this program as well..... and the field cant just swing back as easily as guys can renew... you watch landlords & cities fight fields that went PF & want to return to noisey.

Nathan-
Amazing how when I talk about lowering the cost I am get told it is a member org & everyone has to pay the same... but now we hear from these guys how we can give away discounts willynilly and maybe let these PF 'ama members' not get MA Magazine to save them some more dues money.
