Just so you know, this is probably just a symptom of the new batteries and not the charger. Brand new batteries do tend to false peak until they get a few good charges in them, especially NiMHs. The voltage hasn't stabilized and this tends to trip off the peak detection. Even when you get the 977, new batteries will do this. Keep an eye on the MAH screen on the charger and keep a running total on each charge. Keep restarting the charge when it false peaks until you get close to the MAH rating on the battery. Also, the battery will be warm to the touch when it's fully charged. Charge the battery at 3.6 amps for the first full charge. After that you can safely charge it at 5 amps on the 977.
