Guys the delay was the Ultracote, the container didn't show up on time. They are closing the factory for a couple weeks for Chinese New Year also, so that will push things back more. Chris said March but not sure exactly what part of the month. He's doing everything he can for us and as Rennie said, it will be worth the wait. Rennie hope you lock that Yak up real good, you'll be able to find it in New Jersey if they aren't here in March[:D], haha.

Little progress tonight. Repaired the damage on the wing socket sheeting, checked the fuselage over inside and out. Looks like they used epoxy during the assembly in China. I hit a few places like where the vast plywood jigsaw puzzel of joints with thin CA, (Just me). All in all, I am very happy with the fuselage. It is very light, very strong in the right places, and very BIG. Mounted the motor and figured out that I need 50mm drop headers, measured from the surface of the exhaust port, to the center of the tuned pipe tunnel. I also laid out all of the gear that I am going to use, just to get a feell of how much room I need, of which there is plenty.

Jake, I am using a 5" CF 'Extra' Style Spinner from Troy Built Models.

do these spacers for the da-100 come with the kit? if not anyone know where i can get them? next question is in regards to transporting it i have 80" from the front of my bed in the truck to the middle of the space between bed and tailgate where the wheels would sit WILL IT FIT?

Flyin Hawaiian -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/29/2008 3:10:41 PM)

The spacers I used are 1" type for the DA 100

kochj -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/30/2008 4:52:39 AM)

I have got to say that I wold not have believed it if I had not seen it first hand!!!
I can't believe how big the 50cc yak is?!!!
then the 110" yak! wow!
The videos and the testimonials speak for themselves.....
The 50cc yak and extra look and fly like a 100cc plane
and the 110 yak looks and flys like a 150cc size!
In fact GP has a extra 150cc size and gues what? It is only a mear (can't believe I am saying that) 110 WS'!!!!

Extreme flight rc ROCKS!!![;)][8D]

First I want to correct an earlier statement. The fuselage is 102.5" long!

From tip of rudder to landing gear plate is 72" long

From tip of rudder to center of wheels is 80" long.

Hope that helps.

Is that fuz length include the spinner?
Thanks
Chris

Yes it does[sm=thumbup.gif]

Rennie in your opinion how do you think this plane would do on a DA 100 with stock mufflers. I dont know that I can swing the cost for tuned pipes for this thing right now. If I do have to use pipes I guess that I will go with the MTW pipes.
Do you know how Chris had his setup at Atlanta? I dont think that he was running pipes was he?

Looks like the Panzl is out the door so I will transplant all of its guts into the Yak. Know if I can just figure out what color to get.

I was hoping to have a 35% to bring to the FX3D but since the Yaks are delayed looks like I might just swing by Chris's shop on the way home and pick mine up if they are in by then.

Looks like it will just be the 88" EF Extra and the Wild Hare Ultimate making it to the FX3D.

drewbags -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 8:47:58 AM)

I am pretty sure that the video of it at Atlanta was on stock mufflers. My concern is that where I fly noise is an issue and so I would be using cannister mufflers which will weigh considerably more than the stock and ES pipes (can't afford those, especially here in the UK!!). If Flyin Hawaiian's YAK is 29lbs then with cannisters it is going to be well over 30lbs and this might be a struggle for the DA100?

Flyin Hawaiian -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 10:52:10 AM)

Hey Rush, The 104" EF Yak at Atlanta had MTW front exiting cannisters and swings a Mejzlik 28-10 prop. and worked really well with that set-up. If you are worried about a thirty pound 110" Yak, it will fly just fine. [sm=thumbup.gif] Mine is slightly over 29 LBs w/ Alum Spinner, pilot bust and dash panel. There is alot aras that I could of shaved more weight, but I had the power box and two redundant battery packs already. By the way Chris H. 104" Yak weighed in at 28.5 lbs.

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 1:21:39 PM)

So I guess that you feel like it will be okay on the stock mufflers.
My plane now is some where in the 26 to 30lb range I would guess. I have never weighed it but I think if my DA is tugging it around fine then I will be fine with a 28 to 29lb plane.

Sooooooooooooooooo if I hadnt had a brain fart and just thought about how much my plane weighed right now, I guess that I could have answered my own question. [&:]
If your plane is at 29lbs I dont see why I shouldnt be able to sacrifice a few little things and get it down close to 27 to 28lbs.

I will not be using all of the goodies that you are using but my setup will be 8611A's all the way around with titanium turnbuckles because every little bit will help. One receiver and 3 batteries with regulators. 3 switches and a carbon fiber spinner. I will start out using a Vess 27A and see how it does. I debating on weather or not to use a SWB pull-pill setup on the rudder or just use a setup like you are using.

Flyin Hawaiian -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 1:41:55 PM)

If you are going to use stock muffs, I would use one HS5995 (at 7.4v), one on the rudder, and everywhere else, and two 2.4G receivers, eliminate power box and use two 2100 Li-po's 7.4v packs w/ no regulators, and a Vess 27B prop. If I didn't have every thing in stock already, that would have been my approach to the build. 27-28 LBs can be acheived.

The Alternate would be to use a Smart-Fly Power expander Sport w/ built in optical cut-off, two 7.4 Li-pos, but I do not know if the Smart Fly power expander is rated at 7.4 volts.

Josey Wales -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 2:29:19 PM)

You think a single 5955 is enough on the rudder?

Flyin Hawaiian -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (1/31/2008 3:18:51 PM)

It depends on your flying style. If you are a MAJOR HUCKER, you would want to run two on rudder.

Flying skunks: Does that canister quiet the DA-85 or does it still make your ears bleed.

flying skunks -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (2/1/2008 11:43:27 AM)

the canister keeps the 85 very quiet,about as loud as a DA 50 on a MTW pipe. [8D]

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (2/1/2008 12:43:16 PM)

It is official. I have am getting ready to head out to Atlanta and meet a guy to sell him my Panzl. I will be getting the 110" EF Yak. I will be using all of my equipment out of the Panzl in the Yak. The good thing is I have my birthday coming up at the first of March and I have talked the wife into getting me either the MTW canisters or the MTW pipes for the DA-100.
I am going to call DA and weigh my options and see what the best route for me to take would be. I really like the MTW pipe that is on my DA-50 but I want to see how all the testing went with the canisters verses the pipes from DA. [:D]

Flyin Hawaiian -> RE: Extreme Flight 110" 100cc Yak 54 Build! (2/1/2008 8:37:22 PM)

Very kewl Rush! [sm=thumbup.gif] You fing that the tuned pipes makes power verses cannisters!

Huck-on Bro!
