Divide the metric measurement by 25.4 to get the decimal equivalant. 5mm = .1968, 1/16 = .0625 Even if the prop compressed 1/16 or so you would still have over 1/8" to spare. The other option is to get bolts that are slightly shorter if you have a thinner prop.

I could see this happening with people changing props a lot. The props all have different thickness hubs. I know Menz are pretty thick. I guess the lesson is to always check the bolt length with the new prop being tried. Make sure there is plenty of threads left for compression of the wood.

Got to maiden the yak!! All I can say- it was WELL worth the wait! I only got a few quick flights in but man what a machine! Only needed about 4 clicks of up elevator and it was flying like it was on a rail. Vertical is outstanding and there is no lack of power with the DA 100. I could basically do vertical rolls until the plane was a speck...Didn't do much hovering as the motor is brand new, but the short time I tried, it hovered at less than 1/2 throttle! Point rolls were crisp and the rudder is very effective so not much is needed for KE flight.
Elevators were very slow and graceful no wing rocking at all and it settles right in and dropped like a stone.
The BEST thing were the harrier rolls!! UNBELIEVABLE how easy they are with this plane..I was doing them on the first flight..The plane really settles right in almost felt like I was flying my sim. Cant wait to fly it again!!!

I have to lean out the motor a bit as it was on the rich side and unfortunately I have to take the cowl off cant figure an easy way to get to the needles so if anyone has an idea please post it.

I drilled one small hole, 1/4", in the lower side of my cowl and put a long screwdriver through to reach needles. One hole will service both needles, I look through the front to see where my screwdriver point is.

I did the same as bgold. Glad to hear the maiden went well, this machine is just great fun and looks so good in the air.

Ok thanksIll have to take a look and see where to drill it..

Is everyone who's using a 4" offset rudder arm getting a little rub on the cable exit slots at full deflection. I hear SWB is coming out with a 4 1/2" that should take care of it I think. I'm lagging behind but made good progress this weekend. I now need to get a motor bolted to it to check balance before putting the batteries in for good.

I am using the 4" offset and yes there is a little rubbing, but nothing too dramatic.

is the theory that if your horns are on the hinge line you use a strait arm? and if back 1/4 or so you use the offset arm? just curious how that works, im expereincing geometry issues on another plane at the moment and was looking for help anywhere, maybe a fellow ef brother can help me out

I'm no expert but if your horn is over the hingeline center then you can use a straight servo arm which is also the same length of your horns from center to center. Horns that are behind the hingeline due to rudder thickness and the bevel need the offset arm and also should be the same length but it will work if they are not exactly the same as we are doing here. The rudder horns are about 4 1/2" apart and SWB currently only has the 4" arm. The cables need to be very close in length also when you make them up.

Since I'll be buying one of these later this year, I am interested in the rudder servo setup. I hate dealing with a pull-pull rudder. Couldn't a guy just mount a single JR=8711 in the tail on a push-pull setup? Or is that option not available on this airframe.

The push=Pull Option on the rudder is not set up that way. But that doesn't mean it cannot be modified. Chris Hinson designed it for Pull-Pull Rudder set up to centralize the mass. if you were to use stock muffs on a new/old DA100, it could balance out with one Rudder servo in the tail, but in my honest opinion, you will need two rudder servo's, especially for extreme aerobatics!

i did here that a slightly smaller servo arm isnt bad cause then you can adjust the endpoints higher than 100 and get better resolution anyway, a thought maybe

Thanks, that is the info I was looking for, sounds like 2 HS-5955's is the way to go...
