hi,

need some help, has anyone tried a bme 105, mine (has the 110 case) with stock muff's fly the 110 yak ok? just not sure because of it's larger than average size. my motor turns about 6400 with a vess 27a, flew my bvm edge just fine and wieghs about 2 lbs less than the da-100. i saw where some guys used a kroma 100 but not sure how that compares to the bme 105.
any thought's would be a great help! trying to decide between the ef 110 yak and the new qq 101 yak

thanks, brad

Brad I dont think that your BME would have any trouble flying the 110" Yak. Swinging a Vess 27A at 6400 sounds like it will work fine. I have no expereince with the QQ planes but I dont think that you will be disappointed one bit with the EF 110" Yak. I love this plane and I think that it flies as close to a 40 center as you can get.

The 110" Yak is a 35% that presents itself like a 40%. I have 32 flights on mine & I absolutely love it. my flyimg buddy has a 118" Yak, and he says mine flies just like his. I highly recommend the 110" Yak. If your BME 105 turns a Vess 27A @ 6400 rpm, you will have a real performer on your hands. This plane is bigger than a 40% Edge 540. Mine has 8 gal. through it on a Bolly 26x10 break-in prop @ 6500 rpm. and it has unlimited vertical,, & great pull out of a hover.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but your BME has very similar power to a Da100, set up similarly with stock exhaust. Plus being lighter gives it definite advantages in power/weight ratios. My Kroma is supposedly, 2 - 4 oz, kighter than a DA 100, has the batteries behind the rudder servo. There is plenty of room between the rudder servo & the tank for th batts, and also around the tank, or infront of the tank. Lota of possibilites. You goota have a 110" Yak.

How do you like that Kroma? How is the midrange and the performance?

Thanks!

I really like my Kroma 100. The mid-range is very smooth, with nice transition. Also, no matter what attitude the airplane is in, or what manuever I'm doing, there is no "burble" that I can detect.

Engines with double rings tend to break in a little slower. Mine is really coming on with the last 2 gal of fuel. I have 8 gal through it so far. There have been at least 5 tachs used on this engine, a Fromeco TNC & one unknown brand tached it at 6900 rpm, and three Hobbico tachs all have it right around 6500 rpm. I didn't want to be accused of exaggering these numbers, so I reported the 6500 rpm number.

I fly about an 70/30 mix of IMAC/3D. The performance has been excellent. I would rank it among the real quality engines available out there. I would recommend it to anyone.

After a couple more gal, I plan to move to a 27/10 prop.

26 1/2 lbs.

Also, the 110" Yak tends to be a bit nose heavy, so you won't have any problem balancing it with the lighter engine.

The rolling manuevers on this plane are absolutely beautiful. It rolls perfectly axial, with no need for any differential. Since I'm here, I might as well add that the snaps are clean & precise.

Brad here is a video of mine. DA 100 on pipes pushing the porky side of 29lbs. At your weight you should rock out of a hover. Mine does pretty good but you can be the judge of it.
