Im currently building my yak 110 i recently purchased. im impressed with the quality and the packaging done to insure a safe trip. as im building its amazing to me that they didnt forget any of the nuts and bolts. my last build with aeroworks always resulting in calling for missing parts. my only wish is that it came with wheels and axels with the kit. it was a real pain to go out and look for these parts. alot of local hobby shops dont deal with large rc parts... Can any one send a picture of the bottom cowl with a da-100 with stock mufflers installed? not sure where to cut. thanks for any help

The cowl is so huge the only place to cut is for the exaust tubes..

Nogyro, I have had no problem getting 45 degree throws both directions with the 1.5 inch arms. I used the Hitec programmer to get maximum travel and set the end point adjustments in my 12X close to 150. However, if you are having issues, you may want to try the SWB 2" arm. There is a hole at the 1.75" mark and this should make it easier for you. Hope this helps.

Chris,

I ended up coming into the lower holes on the elevator control horns. That, along with maxing out the servo throw with the programmer could give me well over 50 degrees if I wanted it. I'm using a Futaba 8UAFS transmitter, so maybe that has something to do with the lesser throw.

I did do one other thing. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I envisioned if the bolt ever came loose that holds the ball link in the composite control horn, the thin edges of the ball link would eat into the G10 material real quick. There is enough room in there that I put a 4-40 flat washer on each side of the ball link between it and the control horn sides. Also put a flat washer under the head and nut of the 3 mm bolt that goes through the ball link/control horn.

Frank, in over 6 years of using this control horn/ball link arrangement in our aircraft I've never heard of a single failure, but if it makes you feel more comfortable, by all means use this method. We all develop our own preferences and use what works best for each of us.

That's good to hear, because I really like the design of the control horns. It's sort of like adding the washer to the top of the bolt when you bolt your ball link to the servo arm. It's there just incase the brass ball pops out of the black plastic material. Never seen that happen either, but I still do it.

They did a VERY good job on the servo pockets and horn placement on the wings and ailerons at the factory. I installed the servo's in both wings today and got them programmed. I was able to get the numbers dead on with no binding anywhere in the travel. Both high rates and low are equal both directions. That doesn't happen without good accurate construction and more important, design work to get the geometry correct.

I finally finished putting my yak together it took two weeks but its done. here is my set up. please feel free to comment.

Engine- Da-100
servos- ailerons- 4 jr 8411 ( 155 oz of torque)
rudder- 1 hitec 7950 (400 oz of torque)
throttle- futaba digital high speed servo ( usually used for helicopters on a gyro .55 oz of torque) works well..

2 futaba pcm recievers (one for each Side)
2 4000 nihm Batteries (6v)
1 2700 nihm for ignition (4.8v)

Batteries were installed on the side wall behind the rudder servo. Balance came out to the center of wing tube.

That sounds like a very nice set up.
It should fly fine with the CG on the wing tube. I moved mine back slightly from there and couldn't really tell much difference anywhere.
It'll fly good.
When is your maiden flights?
thanks
Barry

you should have tons of battery for the recievers, im running 2 2000mah mthyd and get suffecient flight time

I know the feeling. That's the worst part about the 110" Yak. It flys so good you get spoiled.

My Maiden went well. i must say all the hype on this plane is true.. this plane is a keeper . It flew very straight and felt very light.
my cg is spot on. did a 45 upline inverted and after a long line it barely nosed over. i just wish i can get the harriers locked in. I'm having a bit of a hard time keeping the wings from rocking. its not very violent but cant seem to steady it using ailerons. nose is up at a 45. hmmm any suggestions? more tail weight, less elevator throw?

I found My problem.. It was uneven elevator throw. i did the stick method and got them both tracking very good. harriers are good now.

can some one help with my elevator set up. i have the hitec 7955tg with the hp-20 programmer. im running two recievers, each elevator on ch2 on each receiver. i was able to match center and both end point adjustments perfectly. i used a 12 inch carbon rod taped on the surface. when moving the elevator slowly or a mild speed they match all the way up and down, but when i move the sticks quickly the right elevator lags behind about .25 sec. i cant figure this one out. control rods are the exact same length. is it a bad servo?

Im using a futaba 9c PCM reciever running 6volts nihm batteries. i have y harnessed them into one reciever and still same servo. i have switched recievers around still same servo. and have did reprogramming also.. I flew the plane and noticed no bad flight characteristics at all. I even did a wall and it popped straight up no snap. is it worth looking into this more or trying to exchange the servo?
thanks guys for replying. i might be just being too picky about the whole thing.

IT's my belief that this is a normal occurance and is caused by the radio delay in its sorting through all the channels and making the inputs. On other radios: say the 12Z or 14MZ the channels are place closer together which allows for less searching and quicker response. When I moved from the 9CAP to the 14MZ I noticed a considerable difference in this lag time.
I don't think there is anything you can do about it....except just fly it. In most cases as you've proven, it is very difficult to see any problems.
thanks
bArry

That lag is called latency, hard for me to get how signals that move at the speed of light can be so slow... my 9c does it too. It is all but eliminated in the 2.4 transmitters, from what I'm told, at least I don't see it in my 9303. Another good reason to go 2.4. Thor.

keith I thought I read that you tried a Y into the same channel and the lag was in the servo?

Yes that is puzzling.  I would want to figure out what is causing that.

Keith,
Do you have another servo to try?

i found out something interesting today with my wolverine switch, i always new it had 2 switches and they were seperate, what i didnt know was it shares the battery juice after the switches are on, i finally set up a 2nd reciever in my plane cause i had an extra and figured why not be extra safe, well after setting it all up and splitting ele and ail to one side, i threw the switch, just one out of 2, and both recievers powered on, i double checked everything to see if i had a short or forgot to undo a Y or something, but nope is seperate one batt lead in each reciever, so i looked up the switch and it talks about sharing feature, so i think everything is set up correctly and thats the way its supposed to work, i tried to call them but they are closed until monday, anyway with just 1 reciever i never noticed it cause 1 switch would turn the plane on not matter what, well even 2 recievers 1 switch turns the entire plane on too, so now if one batt goes i still have both recievers, kinda cool, another benfit i was never aware of
