Is there anything special about the charger needed for one of the Hobbico sealed LC (Lead Calcium) 12v 7 Ah batteries? Of course there is a specific Hobbico wall wart, or would any generic 12v 500-600 mAh wall wart work?
Thanks,

MarkD

Check out the Battery Tender Jr from Hughes RC. www.hughesrc.com It includes a microprocessor which senses the battery's needs. It charges at 750mA then switches to a trickle rate. At $39.95 shipped it a pretty good deal

Cheers Mike

I second the Battery Tender. I have been using the Battery Tender Plus on 4.5 , 7 , and 18 Amp lead acid batteries.
It works really well. No worry about charging time or rate. Just connect it and it will let you know when the battery is fully charged. And won't overcharge.

Here is a link to the Battery tender website.

The Battery Tender Junior is a great charger. Motorcycle Consumer News rated it a Best Buy in both of their charger comparisons in the last few years. I've got one that I've used on my motorcycles through winters.

BUT if I didn't already have one, I wouldn't spend that much money on one for a field battery. Because funds are always limited, I'd rather spend that extra money elsewhere.

If you are looking for a less expensive solution, a generic 500-600 ma 12v charger will work fine. Just keep an eye on the voltage and don't wayyy-overcharge the battery.
