I converted the engine of my 50cc scooter into RC plane-engine but it was too heavy
so I turned into boat engine for a kayak

Seriously, I agree, it is all about the dream of SWINGING in the Air, Speed excitement
and touching the ground as little as possible, isn't it ?!

But here (Finland) it is too cold for a bike 6 months per year, so I am "swinging" with
my car which is almost like a bike in the sense of Power-to-Weigh Ratio and I am
dreaming for a Ferrary or a Porche, beside the dreams for real Lancair; I just got
only the Great Planes RC .60 version ... Well, lets keep on Dreaming, it is soon
Chistmas, some dreams come true, some don't ... yet.

I rode for years, but my bikes are long gone, now. I, too, could only ride for 6 months, because of the weather.

RRC allows me to stay occupied all year long. Flying during the Summer. Building, all year long.

I don't see much cost differential. I can easily spend the equivalent equal to to a Gold Wing, over 5 years.

I Just sold my last one 2 years ago. 1986 Goldwing. Bought it with 7K on the speedo and i paid $1,700 for it. Rode that one for two years and sold it for $4,200 with 11k on the speedo. Now im just waiting for that killer deal on a GL1500 that i just can't pass up.

Nothin' "butt-ugly" about a Kawasaki transverse four. I'm also one of the ex-rider crowd, gave it up a long time before I discovered R/C, but there isn't a day goes by that I don't miss it. Started out with a Triumph Daytona in 1972, owned two of them over 8 years, then bought a '75 Kawasaki 400 triple; faster than stink, but handled like crap. Bought a '74 903 Z-1 Kawasaki in 1979, put 82,000 miles on it in 6 years (only rebuilt the top end once) and then bought an '85 Ninja 900 new. Rode it for three years and put 55K on it, including two trips to Daytona and a year of club racing it. Also co-owned an RZ-350 Yamaha and an FZ-600 Yamaha that we endurance raced for 3 years.

Gave it all up cold-turkey after a couple of "very near-death" experiences on the public highways, partly (mostly) my fault because I couldn't control my right wrist, it had a mind of its own .

With gas getting the way it is, I'm entertaining the thought of finding a vintage something-or-other as local transportation, maybe another British twin from the 60's or 70's.
