Status: offline 		If you have a Credit Union at work, or a local one you can join, I'm about to give you the financial advice that will change your future life. Most of you won't put it in practice, but it has put $1000's in my mad money account over the years.
It's pretty simple, really. Just have your ENTIRE paycheck sent to your Credit Union Savings account, then have a SPECIFIC amount forwarded from there to your regular checking account. Most Credit Unions will post it to another Bank's checking account, if that's where your household account exists.
When you first establish this setup, you may need to send all but $1 of your entire paycheck to the "household" account, but whenever you work a little overtime, or get a bonus or a raise, everything over the amount that goes to the checking account will stay in savings. And you'll never have to "remember" to put anything away.
It may make very little difference for the first 6 months or year, but over time you will appreciate that your household is now on a budget, and you have a growing stash in savings for those little emergencies (or crash sales!)
