Ok guys.

Now that Kaelan said that swinging 550 blades would be more stable (which is what I thought), I'm thinking about nixing the H550 XES PRO SE for the standard plastic (long boom) kit. That is unless I order a spare long boom with the XES PRO kit and just use it instead of the short one.

For those that have built both, is this an easy way to go? Is there any other parts needed to go from short to long boom?

I really like the XES kit but would like to use 550 blades.

Like ea01bg, I will also be using the z20 motor.

longer boom, longer belt, longer tail linkage.. that's all you need.. about $15 in parts

Thanks Kaelan,

I don't see the belt listed on readyheli's website. Do you know who else has them?

They also have both a "Tail control rod #204195" and "straight tail pushrod #204669" for long boom.

Both had short tail versions so both of these needed?

Kaelan,

Also, I don't see the 20T OWB listed on readyheli.

Can you send a link?

I was trying to find out if it was included in the XES Pro SE kit but they haven't answered yet.

Also, what was shown in the link you posted ending in CHP-G012 I'm just curious.

I pulled the trigger...

ordered this from flying-hobby
http://flying-hobby.com/catalog/prod...oducts_id=2171 and had them change the motor to the Z20a980 (picked the fast shipping too)

plus I placed an order with Readyheli.. a couple pinions, 20T OWB, 50T gear, some Trex 600 landing gear.. and these http://www.readyheli.com/ProductDeta...tCode=CHP-G012

that was a quick 15 minutes to spend over $1000 but it'll be more than worth it hopefully I'll have everything within a week.

wonder why that link went dead... anyways, this link should work. http://www.readyheli.com/Custom_Heli_Parts_Spektrum_Carbon_Fiber_Servo_Do_p/chp-g012.htm it's the CF adapters for jr/spektrum servos to position the links in the right place without having to mess with drilling new holes later down the road I'll end up getting teh CNC pitch and roll arms as well as CNC elevator... just wasn't in the budget right now.

Thanks Kaelan.

The spec list is growing but I don't want to forget anything and then have to order again.

Now I just have to decide if I want 2500mAh packs or 3300mAh packs to run the z20A-980 motor swinging 550mm blades.

3300mah would be my choice simply because they will provide a longer flight time and they would also be able to be used if you decide that a more powerful motor and greater head speed is what you want. currently, I'll be using 2200mah 25C lipo's because that's what I have on hand. it's also the main reason I went with the Z20a-980 motor.. that motor is easy on the batteries and works well with the 2200mah lipos I already have. if I get more batteries (who am I kidding...I'll get more) I'll get 3300's.. in fact, been looking at the 3300 zippy's at **** http://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6354 as well as the 3500's http://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6420

can't beat the hobby city prices

I'm tempted to put together my own pack with these:

http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-4000-Cell.htm

Could make a 4000mAh almost identical in size/weight to the zippy 3300. Would be expensive though.

I'm using the 3300 packs from Hobby City. I'm only running them for 10-11 min but they are not even warm after. I need to get a charger that displays how much it puts back into the battery. I was also looking at the zippy 4000's they are not that much larger.

RC David ,
what gear combo are you going to run for the 550 blades?

ea01bg,

That's a good question. I think several are running the 15t pinion but I think it depends on the other gears. I'm not even familiar with the gearing on this model so I'm sure I'll have questions for you guys when I get it ready to fly. On the pinion, I've read some posts that said the H550 kit came with a 14t and some a 15.

I want to have a 13, 14, 15 and 16 so I can get it geared just right for a lower headspeed on the z20A motor and my (2) 3s 2200mAh packs. I'll probably get all 4 when I order just in case.

I've noticed that my LHS has many different brands of 550mm blades in stock but NO 500mm blades so I guess it's good I'm going to go 550 to start.

Kaelan, I think I will probably get 3300mAh packs after I see how much flight time I get on 2200's with my gearing and motor choice.

GOD... I just have to rant here... Just got a guy asking about the 550 I have listed in the ad section and he's trying to tell me that my 550 is only worth $360. The CC 60amp esc, Airtronics servos and GY401 alone are worth $420 new, nevermind the heli, motor and batteries.

I hear ya Druss.

I got a lot of offers when i was selling my DX7 on here that were just silly and I felt the same way you do. I did end up selling the DX7 for close to what i wanted for it, but still took quite a loss on it. It was tiresome hearing "it's not worth that!" and "I can find it other places for less" and " one of those just sold last week for $50 less!" comments though.

I guess the key is to wait longer because eventually it will sell for what you are asking for it (at least close to what it's worth) if you don't mind the constant pm's and silly offers that come in each day lol. Just take a deep breath and wade through the silly offers. We have to keep in mind that many of the people that bid on these things here don't know the helis or equiptment well and want a steal. When/If i ever part with my hurris, they won't go cheap cuz i know the shape they have been kept in and how much air time they have versus dirt time lol. I know you treat your helis and kits like gold too so hang in there man.

*BTW.. if you want to sell all the heli's electronics (including all batteries) for $2, just send me a PM lol.
