The only problem I'm having is that i cant fly ( not to self move to a warmer climate ) I'm snowed in. I only got I quick test hover and one full pack hover before the weather closed in. I'm done till spring.

Have any of you built the Kit version of this heli and if so how easy was the build? I have onne coming with CF frame, 110kv motor and metal head, just wondering how involved the build is. Also how is the instruction manual?

Got it home, opened the package and happy to say everything arrived in great shape (NO DAMAGE, only because it was shipped USPS and not UPS!)
Looks like a very simple build. It's about 90% complete out of the box. I got the kit with motor, rec, esc, bec, servos, gyro, receiver battery, and 2-2200 25c lipos. I'll finish her up this coming weekend using my DX7 electronics.

yep, already know about them. I'm looking at the pro cf version myself, i'll probably get the motor, esc and bec from them but use my own electronics like servos, gyro and receiver. I've also got plenty of batteries from my 450 heli's so don't need those.

I got the Pro CF version, I got it RTF with the futaba 2.4 ghz setup. The Heli itself and all the Equiment was fine but they did a poor job on the assembly and didnt check or thest anything. I went through the whole heli after I found several build problems.

Nice, i've already got a DX7, a spare gyro and s9254 tail servo and lots of 11.1v batteries so I'll go with what i listed in my last post.

Well I did it, ordered the 550 CF Pro Extreme (metal head). I really hope this is my last heli, I'm running out of room (in both my hobby room and my wallet).

has anyone tried putting a scale body on this? I wonder if a scale body for a .50 size century would fit?

I've seen an airwolf on one. A 30 size would fit, a 50 would probly be a bit to large.

Druss,
I think I'm going to upgrade to the metal head this upcoming summer. If my wife sees one more UPS box with my name on it I'm through

lol, that's why i got the upgraded carbon fiber frame and metal head from the get go.

I'll look into the .30 size body (not airwolf, already have one for my king2 and trex450xl), i'm thinking the 500 tow defender model or an apache. I think the 550 is right between the sizes of a .30 and .50 but i'll have to check once i get it.

Druss,
Great minds think alike (500 tow defender model )? Thats exactly what i want for mine. I want to wait until I've gotten FF down using the 550. I just order a Blue Bell 222 for my Black hawk 450. I'm not interested in 3d flying. I'm more of a scale flier. If I run across one in my cyber travels I'll PM you.
