Druss,
Are you going to use the Z 30 motor on this one? I'm waiting for Bush's Heli stimulies package

I got the 1100kv Gaui motor for both of them, one of them will use the Gaui 75amp esc and the other an 80amp CC esc. Both will have a separate receiver battery back w/ ubec.

well I am just about done with my rebuild thought I would post some pics I decided not to use the disc servo horn I used the stager< I noticed that 1 of the Guai team flyers uses the same deal and he's is a little above my flight range. LOL. I may switch back to a disk configuration, but only time will tell, as you can see mine is stock. (standered frame factory motor and esc) I hope the rest of you guys are having a good one and getting some killer flights, I know Druss is probable snowed in!!! This thing may let me get to leave the t-rex 600 @ home. have a great one AX

How would you comair the Hurricane to the Trexx 600? I'm assuming by your post that you have booth or have flown booth.

Well i now have about thirty flights on my hurri and I am very impressed. It has been the perfect size to learn on I think. i did have the tail shake like so many were having but now all seems to be well. i do plan on switching to a metal tail case w/CF boom shortly.

I have been flying my H550 also and have around a dozen flights on it, the parts are inexpensive a crash kit from Readyheli.com $29 and includes most of the parts you will need in a crash. There are few things to watch out for, see Helifreaks.com on Finless's vid build and a few things I would change right away is the cnc elevator lever arm, add the cnc swash guide, use 2mx8 screws instead of 2mx7, replace a few ball link ends to a Raptor ball links and your pretty much ready to go, these minor improvements wont cost too much at all.

My t-rex 600 is much bigger ( wider stands taller and weights twice as much) I haven't flown mine yet I have flown one of the local clubers 550 its very nice his is in the standered configuration( stock) it moves well and feels light in the air. The t-rex well I would like to say it's nicer but really it's not that much better ( my rex is very stock with the glass fiber frames cheapest kit lol) . I think the Guai has it beat on just being afforadable my good set of lipos are 279$ thats one pack for the 600 that money will get you 5 packs of still good lipos. If I had it to do over again I would avoid the trex 600 and get more lipos

The T-rex 600 has "presence" in the air when you fly it. It's a bigger and heavier model so it feels more substantial in movement. That's not to say it can't snap around like crazy, as it certainly can and is arguably one of the better 3D machines out there since it's a perfect balance between stability and performance, but it requires a significantly more expensive set of components to get that sort of performance out of it, whereas the EP550 can achieve similar levels of performance with fairly mid-range equipment due to how light it is.

Which is "better" is a matter of personal opinion. In terms of power to weight, the EP550 probably has the 600 beat by virtue of its size/weight, and with the right motor/battery setup you could probably get absolutely insane performance out of the EP550 that would make the rex-600 look tame.
But, at the same time, a t-rex 450 or smaller will be even more insanely overpowered than a high powered EP550.
It tends to scale like that in my experience, the smaller the models get, as their weight drops off drastically but power output can still be ridiculously high in comparison.

Naturally, though you gain more and more impressive power to weight ratios with the smaller models, they also start to become twitchy and fiddly. Some guys like their model to climb 100 ft in half a second, some don't. There are some trade offs going to larger machines in terms of aggressiveness, but at the same time you get some very nice benefits, rotary stability being one of the big ones, and visibility being the other.

I find the EP550 to be a perfect mix between the 600 and 450 class. It's got the aggressive authority of the small models but still instills that slight feeling of mass that makes 600 models often feel locked in and "right".

If I had to choose between the two, I wouldn't. . I'd keep both and fly whichever one happens to strike my mood at the time.

All things being equal though, the EP550 is definitely a cheaper machine to run and you'll get more flight time with it if you're learning since batteries aren't nearly as expensive.

Between my Rex 450 and the Hurricane, it just depends on what mood I'm in. Wind is also a factor, I run the rex when its windy. But the Hurricane is great for just about everything. I'm thinking about building a "Bambi" bucket to sling underneath to do water drops. Here's a shot of it at the field.

The only thing negative about the H550 is the power, the stock motor is absolutely inefficient and will not give you a good head speed. You cant even touch the motor as its extremely hot and it will kill any 20c 2200mah lipos. I am currently running 3300s on mine and they come off from flight just warm but the 2200 is way too hot after a 3-4 minute flight. I have ordered a Z20 motor and hope that will help extend flight and still use my 2200 packs.

Agree the Trex 600 is better but my wallet isn't that deep . My H550 is under $700 complete with $100 battery packs instead of $250 to power the Trex. I am still learning stunts so repair cost wont be too much either.

Repair cost is pretty much the same as my B400, I hardly fly my B400 because the H550 is just so much better.

I'll be interested in hearing how that z20 works out for you. I've read some posts on Z30 upgrades.
