No i did not take any pic with the pitts muffler. I will take some later tonight or over weekend. Well I was able to get 3 flights on the Sundowner today. 1 flight went dead stick 6 mins into flight as I was running little lean. I started to a 12x10 prop on the Tower .75. Speed was very fast. 1 flight most was able to do was trim her out. 2nd flight I put her to the test. *****(Important)****** stay with the recommended throws on the elevator. I had my low rates at 1/2 inches and high rates at 1". Took up high about 1000 feet and pull up on high rate elevator and this baby snap before I said "WOW" Tried it again on low rate and nothing happen. So this baby will high speed snap stall if more than 1/2 or 12mm of elevator given. Other than that there were no other surprises. The baby will float in on landing just make sure you keep little speed as it is not a trainer. Forgot 2nd flight changed to 12x6 APC and what a huge difference. 3rd flight was the same as 2nd. Just zip around the sky having fun doing 5 feet high low passes. I hope to get video Friday if my flying buddy shows up. If any other question let me know. Oh forgot there was another guy at field with another sundowner 50 running Satio 91 and mine left him in the dust.

I am considering getting one of these, my Revolver is tired. Has anyone tried to mount the engine at a 45 degree instead of the 90 degree?

Got Mine today. Wow looks good. I am thinking about trying to mount a OS 61 looks like it should mount quite easy, I have a pitts muffler I would use. I have a 55 ax with a jett incowel muffler that fits great, 55 is lighter. Not much differance between the two except for size. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

There was a guy with a radar gun and the 1st flight I was doing 92mph with the 12x10 prop, 2nd flight I was clocked 101 level. Same flight was 110 coming out a dive. I am not a big fan of radar gun as it gives you false reading, but this thing does haul good with the Tower 75. Easton has an OS 75 on his so it should clock much faster once his engine breaks in.

Brew mine gave out at 6lbs 6 oz with the Tower 75. If you are looking a save weight I would go with the OS 55 as it has about the same power at the 61.

Here is my setup
Thro- Hitec 81
Ali- Hitec 475
Elev- Hitec 475
Rudder- Hitec 225. (since not 3d plane)
Battery – 1000 ma 6 volt

I save close to 3 oz just by using mini on the thro and rudder

I think the Revolver has better low speed handling than this plane. Still this plane sounds cool, which is why I'm reading through here too.

ahook, i'm not sure why you would want to mount the engine at 45 deg and cut up the cowl..(?)

from the looks of it it's either at 90 deg or inverted engine on this one (maybe that's what you meant?)

hope this helps,
V.

I was wondering about mounting it at a 45 to try and keep the C.G. nearer to the middle, kind of like the great planes reactor.
Hey rcfan. fancy seeing you here. I would think that the revolver would be better at slow speeds mainly for the alierons. The revolver has much bigger ones then this and they are closer to the trust of the prop.(one day i will learn how to spell ailerons)

Well I have never flown a Revolver, but this plane handle slow speed very well without in wing drop. As for my balance I did not have to add any weight to the tail or nose. My battery is sitting next to the thro servos and my receiver is sitting 2" behind the fuel tank. I balance her out at 2.5 which was recommended in the book. Like as said the only thing to watch for a high speed stall if your have more then the elevator input that is recommended in the book.

I think the Revolver has better low speed handling than this plane. Still this plane sounds cool, which is why I'm reading through here too.

I have a 55 ax looking for a plane. Will I be happy with this combo or should I go bigger.
Some of you have put huge motors in this plane. Is anyone flying it with a 55 ax?

You would definitely have to change from the stock muffler of the 91fx. I believe the 91 is lighter also than the 75 I used. I could not advise you for I have not seen the combo 55ax and the sd. I guess it would have to do with how you like to fly. I like a plane with some speed so I put on a engine that I thought would do the job for how I wanted it to fly. A 55ax is pretty close to the recommendation from the manufacturer. So that would be the low end.

if you like then fast than you need to go big. The a guy at my field with a Satio 91 , another guy put a YS 91 and YS 110. I went to 75. I like the speed with the 75.
