hey electric guys, need ur help to built this project..i want to build this tunnel for my dog ride ..it will be powered by Gaupner OB motor. btw, just to give lil' bit background of this dog, he likes to ride in my walmart 1/5 scale jeep, now looking for more challenge i want him to ride in my boat.

i decided to run electric motor so that the dog will not be scared of the noise, but don't have experience with this Gaupner Motor, question is what ESC, battery do i need?

i'm guesstimating it will be around 32-34 lbs including the dog...here's the break down,,boat=12lb, dog=7 lb, motor=1 lb, battery= 11, accesorries=2lb.total=33lb.

do you think this motor can scoot this thing?

any i deas is very much welcome....

You better get vid. of this. I'm sure many members on here would like to see a dog riding a e-rc boat, I know I would. How big is that motor, an 800? I've never seen an outboard that would get a boat that big going. I guess you probably aren't concerned with speed to much since the dog will be along for the ride.

Hey nice tunnel. ( dpi 1/4 scale)
seems to me it looks quite familiar.
the grapuner 800 will not push that fast, but for the dog to ride it might be just right

I perosanlly would go with a custom cut K and B 7.5 lower unit, a Neu 1527 1Y on 24-32 cells.

yup its DPI 1/4 scale got it for free ..

i'm looking for a cruising speed only,,,of course i'l get a video,,btw, the canopy will be cut so that i can mount the dog carriage just on top of the deck that way it won't be top heavy.

hey Taylor S, that's a good option,,i tried to simple and limit the expenses of this project as much possible cos i have a serious boat project goin on...

what 16 - 24 v battery that has 21A?

Sticking a dog on a boat and attempting to drive said boat will only cause you headaches, all it takes is some nosy animal lover...and the SPCA will have you in jail on some trumped up BS charge of animal abuse.

i didn't think about that,,i'l keep myself aware and protect my rear end thanks though,,..the only thing that i'll keep it going is, this dog has something kinda talent, a week ago we won $75 from pet parade contest,we paraded more than 1/4 mile distance and he rode in rc jeep without any attempt of jumping or whatever.. here's his check.

btw, anybody knows if octura prop or prather prop will be compatible with this graupner OB motor?

The Graupner GTX will be very slow for that hull. In comparison, it will be like placing a K&B 3.5 on a 48" hull. The prop size is just way too small to produce sufficient thrust. The motor also only accepts 4mm threaded graupner props up to maybe 45mm.

thanks Ryan for the input,,do u have any idea what motor for this?,,i'm not really looking for speed actually i need torque and just cruising speed maybe 10-15 mph only....Taylor S mentioned bout custom cut k&b lower unit and neu motor and i'm takin it as an another option...

A custom cut lower is pretty much the only thing available as far as I know for a hull that large. The K&B .45 lower is still small for that hull pushing over 30lbs.

A large NEU such as the 1527 1Y would definitely push the hull and have the torque for a large prop, but it would also be extremely dangerous on 30+ cells. I'd cut the cells way down from Taylor's recommendation. Around 4 or 5s. This way, on 4 or 5s LiPo/12-16NiMh, you could run slow RPM's with a larger prop for max thrust. When you want to keep up with the 1/4 scale guys wire two of the selected packs in series, change your prop and you are more then ready for 1/4 scale tunnel racing.

are you kidding me.
4S on a 1527 1Y. might as well be going backwards.
I would not be afraid of running 10S on the 27 1Y
i will show you. and prove it to you

I want to know why you're wanting to prove it to me? If you would stay with in context of the thread and read everything, you would know what's going on.
