Default solartex vs world tex

Just wondered how the worldtex covering compares to solartex. Solartex could not be much better-I have used it often with great results, but the Worldtex is available locally and thought about trying it if the characteristics are similiar. Anyone used Worldtex and have opinions?? Thanks.

Same stuff.

When it's imported by Balsa USA it's called Solartex, and when it's imported by Horizon it's called Worldtex.

I have used the pre-colored Worldtex, and it is excellent. Just remember to clear coat either, to keep the dirt out of the weave.

Gee Bee-thanks for your reply-the 2 are mfg in 2 different countries, England and Germany-seems like the worldtex has a much softer feel to fabric -think I will give it a try.

Solartex, Worldtex, and Colortex are all the same stuff. They're great coverings for a drum-tight fabric finish.

I have thought about using this stuff too. I have been using Sig Koverall and paint and I love it for its durability and the fact that it doesn't wrinkle in the sun or heat. How does the Worldtex perform in those conditions? Also, how well do the edges stay down?

Thanks,
Brian

It holds up just fine in Tucson's heat. I can't remember any problem with the edges, but use SIGMENT from SIG if you do.

The following is a Pic of my 1/4 scale Fleet using pre-colored Worldtex.

Not a wrinkle in it.

Here's a pic of my 1/4 Fokker Dr.1 covered with Solartex. Olive drab, white, and black.
