I stripped the gear/pulley on my 450S. The new one is made of metal. As there is no set screw, how do I fasten it to the shaft? The old one was plastic, with a press fit on to the splined shaft. Thanks in advance!

Use a drop of Loctite #609 to glue the pulley to the shaft. It also works great for pinions.

Are you talking about the pulley under the big pulley on the main shaft? I didn't know you could get a separate metal gear. I've had a couple fail and it's a pain to take out the whole assembly. Would be nice to be able to loctite a new gear onto the slined end of the old shaft.

No, the upgrade assembly has a plastic gear and a metal pulley. There are no splines for the pulley, so that's where the Loctite comes in.

One note: you have to be careful about where you position the pulley on the shaft so that it lines up with the tailboom.

It's the green loctite that comes in the Rex kit. Eventhough the main pinion has a set screw, I always add a little green loctite between the pinion and shaft to be safe.

I have done the thread lock trick and it always fails.

This is what I did:

I got an SA belt gear/pulley, the white one. I removed the plastic pulley, then took the aluminum pulley and pressed it onto the splines with a vise. Never had an issue with the belt or pulley again.

Happy flying!

Good idea. I'm going to try that.
