While on the subject of movies, there are two movies that come to mind, with the Skyraider in action...One is 'We Were Soliders", and "Flight Of The Intruder"..both movies are rasing hell with the enemy..great shots of the Skyraider in action....check them out......

hi guys:

The engine we used was an OS 1.20FS. With the drop tanks mounted to the wings the plane handled exceptional well (very stable). A 1.50 or small gasser would give it just that little more "gusto" It only needed a small amount of noseweight... I think in the range of half to .75 lbs.

By the way we also posted a video of the DC3 maiden as well.

6.5 inches if I recall correctly.
Im planning on using a Zenoah G26EI in this or a Saito 1.80 Still debating.
Was told via e-mail by KMP the cowling would fit either one, but that the Zenoah could be cramped.

Hi guys:

The planes will be here in 14 days as long as any customs delays don't get in the way.... We never know until after the container is in port. I'll keep you updated as the container gets closer.

On another note, I think that the cowl diammeter is 6.5" and the length from the firewall to the cowl opening is 5.75"

Cheers,

What small gasser would you recommend?

I think a Zenoah G26 would be great.

Hmmm, according to Horizonhobby, the Zenoah G26ei has mounting dimensions of 180mm x 193mm x 181mm.
To put that into inches it would be: 7.08 x 7.59 x 7.12
However, if wanting to keep the engine within the cowl as I do, 6.5'' from sidewall to sidewall in the cowling and 5.75'' in depth from the firewall, I'm thinking that one may be hard pressed to squeeeeeze this sucker in.

Are those cowling dimensions a for sure at this point???

I saw the A1 in person at WRAM. Its a decent looking bird. With a bit of scale detailing it would be great.

Hi Andrew, I'm planning on buying the A1 very shortly.
For clarification on engine choice, will the cowling in the Skyraider house the Zenoah G26ei or would a different engine choice such as the G20 be sufficient.
I'd really like to go gas rather than Nitro on this plane. I just want to keep the engine from protruding from the cowl and keeping the scale look.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I think that a 26 would require a few holes in the cowl. Putting a Fuji 24 may be a better fit as I think its a bit more compact. As I recall the OS 1.20 on its side had its head poking out the side just a bit. My A1 is in a crate on its way to the next show so I won't be unpacking it until Toledo.
