You know, thats not half bad looking. Sure it's missing the door on the starboard side (actually both sides), and some of the lines ain't exactly scale and some of the bumps are missing, but it sure is looking good. If I was into post WW2 planes, this one would be my first scaleish ARF. I really wish KMP made decent tailwheels & retracts. I've not seen one they have done right yet.

Not sure what they did with those scoops under the cowling though...

This Skyraider is VERY VERY well documented.

Nice teaser AK, any details? SIze, price, retracts? Might need the RCV to keep all it's junk in the cowl and not hanging in the breeze. Any plans on a camo job?

MANFRED -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 3:12:02 PM)

Dem is rotating gear BTW.

SCALECRAFT -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 3:16:40 PM)

Blade

Aside from the glass layup methods........

In the rc model world, some models such as the Zero, Typhoon, FW190, Hurricane, ect, AND relatively scale, will most likely need nose ballast to CG properly. Only a few like the p-51
and other inline engine models need less ballast.

Remember the full size airframes had massive engine that made up most of the planes CG.

A lighter off CG model will not come back alive oppose to a heavier properly CGed one.

Yeah that is the problem with 409 as there are quite a few of them out there. The good news is that we have a tail number on the one KMP is doing: 37543.

That one indeed does have the door on it.

Its AD-4NA (A-1D) BuNo. 126882. Easy enough to get the research on this one! The doors should be there.

Evil_Merlin -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 3:25:10 PM)

I have to ask do you blindly support every ARF that comes out? Of course I'm going to get nitpicky.

The reasons are obvious. Its not my fault that you can't see the issues with releasing a kit of a full size plane that is well documented and is missing some of those details. Did I say the model was crap? No, in fact I said that this is one of the only ARF's I would consider if I built post WW2 bird.

Read my posts instead of just assuming.

Anyone know the stats on this model? Span, weight etc.?

Thanks

Whistling Death -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 6:22:44 PM)

The KMP website hasn't worked in a few days. Whats up with that?

Evil_Merlin -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 6:36:40 PM)

http://www.kmp.ca works fine for me.

Whistling Death -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 6:59:36 PM)

I haven't been able to get on their site at work or at home.

Evil_Merlin -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/12/2007 7:12:15 PM)

Strange. I just checked here and VPNed to home and checked and both of them seem to be getting there just fine.

AKondor -> RE: KMP NEW A1 Skyraider - pics (12/13/2007 12:54:24 AM)

HI Guys:

Several things to mention here:

Yes our website is working just fine. perhaps try another person;s computer who uses a different host server. OUr website has been working for others without any problems. We have been receiving orders daily through it so I trust everything is still working ok. If the problem persists then call Paul at our office toll free 888-968-7251 and he can get you into the webiste using another log-in method.

Regarding the color scheme... I take responsibility for that. Indeed the original tail number of the model should have the doors panel lines molded into the fuse. The molds were already produced when I finalized the color scheme but I liked this color scheme so much that I wanted the factory to use it. (Also my initials on the tail.....great coincidence!)

If you prefer to do your own color scheme we will gladly send you a model with a primer finish so you can finish it in whichever color scheme you chose. There are however many "H" series Skyraiders with very similar color schemes. As most poeple know we don;t claim to make our planes perfectly to scale. When we start making 90-100 inch birds we will pay closer attention to the very small details. With 70+ aircraft we still think we make the nicest "scale" planes on the market today not to mention the best well rounded selection in the WWII category.

The Camo color scheme is going to be an option in the future depending on how many customers request it.

Regarding nose weight, as mentioned in the forum earlier, most scale warbirds need nose weight without question up front. TheTyphoon needs almost 3 lbs with a saito 1.50 up front. The wing position is so far ahead on some of the planes that it simply requires a lot of weight to make it fly right. For all you guys out there with gassers... they are the optimal engines to put in. The Skyraider is not quite as needy of weight but naturally depending your engine choice will determine the extra nose weight required to balance.

Regarding the Retracts... Sierra Giant Scale will be making a set as soon as they get there hands on the drawings or an actual wing panel. The Airplane will come with Fixed gear but we have optional rotating retractable gear availailable now as well.

I will post prices and specifications by the weekend.

Hi Guys:
Was just thinking about the door and thought that with some 1/16 dark grey pin striping or black you could put the outline on the fuse where the door should be on the Starboard side.

Man, you guys sure do produce some outstanding arf's. Can't wait till you venture into the 50cc stuff.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks, Kev.

I still don't see the wing span anywhere...give it to us in metric at least...
