i own the LRP, it is a nice engine, easy to tune and powerful but i have the pull start version.

to lay it out, the O.S is more powerful and being an O.S it will be very high quality just like all of there engines, the LRP is very smooth on the pwoerband though, i can't speak for the O.S from personal experience but from what i've read it's a monster of an engine.

I've seen the LRP in action its a sick motor at a very reasonable price like 150 or something close, I own an O.S motor not the .28 but you know buying O.S. your getting quality

Id ask my self this question. How much do I want to spend? Do I race at the track?

You can buy 2 LRPs for the price of the O.S.

IMO

This is where I'll be buying mine...

http://rc-mushroom.com/product_info.php?products_id=13801

Even with shipping it's not twice as expensive as the LRP..

I have the LRP BTW too and love it.. But by all accounts the OS should be in a different league.. $265(inc shipping.. But not including $100+ more for a bumpbox with bats...) is very reasonable IMO to try out a top-line engine.. If I get it and am not impressed, I'll go back to LRP's and Machs, etc..

I expect though to be VERY impressed....

not sure about the power band of the other engines, but just for how smooth the power band on the LRP is i'd place that in third behind the ninja O.S, just based on what i've heard of other engines, the LRP certainly is smoother then the 728 and 928 i've driven (both in buggies )

NAh..LRP is still a sport motor internally......... Most good engine use a 14 or a 14.5 mm crank..which means a 14 or 14.5 mm rear bearing....The Spec 3 on the other hand uses a small 13 mm crank, which means a small 13 mm rear bearing, and a smaller crank...durability in Truggy the Spec 3 is going to come apart before the motors with bigger cranks and bearing... SH does have 14 MM cranks on their race motors, but for some reason their .28's still have the sport 13 mm cranks.......... Also for Truggy you do need alot of top end, which is something a Spec 3 is outclassed by both the Picco 28 and the Nova 28, I really dont find a Spec 3 to be that great of a Truggy motor..it does work well and all but its a pig on fuel and lacks a good top end.......... I know some guys may consider a Spec 3 to be a screamer, but "trust Me" next to a real race motor like a Ninja 28 the Spec 3 looks like a RV motor...remember also the Picco 28 is also a Jammin JPX 28 or Drake 28...No way does a Spec 3 compete with these beasts.....

i was thinking along those same lines.. this motor would be comparable with a axial, sts, or somthing liek that, not with a OS, RB, or a motor similar to those.
