Status: offline 		I wonder how much response there would be to an electric conversion for this plane?

It's just about the perfect size and weight for an electric aerobat that fits in the car but is still small enough to be affordable. Larger by quite a bit than the typical electric but much smaller than the 30 and 40% stuff that costs tremendous amounts of dollars to set up. It's got plenty of wing area, is well and lightly constructed, and has lots of room in the fuselage. All desirable traits for an electric aircraft.

I purchased mine with the intent on going the Electric route. I ended up powering it with an Evolution 26GT gas engine which is a perfect match for the plane. I still think it would be a great plane for electric but the cost/benifit ratio just wasn't there for me. The motor and controller were just about a wash as far as cost goes compared to the small gas engine. The real pricey part is buying at least two sets of batteries and then you really need a couple of chagrers and a couple of balancers. By the time you get through all of that you could be looking at up to $1000 extra and it just seemed easier go gas.

I am really trying to fit it in there without cuting for the carb. Do you think it will fit without the velocity stack? Do you have any pictures of your install?

Status: offline 		If the carb manages to fit inside the cowl without the stack, pay close attention to the distance between the cowl and the carb opening. Carbs need a little room to obtain air and that air should not be altered by the venturi effect of being squeezed betwen the carb and the cowl. If the space is narrow, you will have running issues.

Status: offline 		I haven't posted in a few weeks because I have been out traveling for a while. Had a chance to visit the Toledo show earlier this month and really enjoyed it a lot. I was very impressed with Wild Hare's 50cc Sukhoi and as soon as I obtain the electronics for this great looking bird I am ordering one.

Last week I worked some on the Baby edge and finished adding a few improvements. I installed the new carbon graphite landing gear from Ohio Carbon which looks more rigid and will not bend like the original issue gear. I also moved the ignition module, batteries and receiver slightly to the rear, and removed the lead weight from the elevator servo area. I replaced the elevator servos with a pair of Hitecs HS-5945MG's, and the throttle servo with an HS-225MG. I added a Futaba MSA-10 matchbox to handle the 5945's and that way got rid of a small linearity problems I was having with the previous HS-635HB's.

I re-balanced the CG by adding 1.39 OZ. of lead inside the stab tube for a net saving of 1.46 OZ. from the previous setup, and maintained the CG at 4 and 5/8" from the leading edge at the root. Hope to test fly it this week and will report into how it handles with this set-up.

Status: offline 		Deathbunny I mounted my YS 140 inverted with no problems very small hole to clear the head. I thank but not sure the 110 might be shorter and would almost fit with no holes at all. I used A can type muffler mounted in the lower part of fuse just behind the the fire wall looks great. any way I hope this can help good luck.

Status: offline 		Thanks Cap, I have my cowl cut open for inverted mount. It only took a small ovallish opening in the front center mostly for cooling. I havent finshed mounting it yet though. I have been draging on the build as im not really ready to fly it just yet (still learning on my pulse). I would like to hear how if flys with the 140. I have been starting to wonder if the 110s will be enough. I think it will be as long as I keep it light but I bet the 140 is gonna be really nice.

Status: offline 		I was torn between the 110 and 140. I have two guys at my field one with A 110 in A v1 extreamflight YAK and another with A giles 202 with the 140,the Giles was closer to size and weight of my baby Edge so thats why I went with the 140. I must say that the 110 pulls the Yak around like A Esties model rocket. I thank you will be happy with the 110 in it its A very powerful lil engine.

Status: offline 		I have a buddy flying a V.1 baby Edge with an OS 120 two stroke and it flies "fair to middling". I suppose a V.2 (which is lighter) should fly fine with the YS 140, but I am not so sure how a 120 4-stroke will do as far as hovering and vertical performance.

I prefer to have too much power rather than just enough so I would not recommend anything smaller than a 150 4-stroker glow, or 26cc gas. On the other hand there are some real powerhouses in the 2 stroke glow category. Check out this Moki 180 for sale right here on RCU. If you prefer glow power this puppy is a little tiger, the price is right and it will perform very well while drinking FAI fuel.
