Xtreme RC Car Engine Dyno Tests!

This is the most complete and up to date list of engine HP. The prices may be off. This is true corrected HP NOT MANUFACTURER RATED! I hope this helps clear up any myths or hearsay. Look there has been some confusion on these dyno results. This is a crank Dyno in a test condition. This is NOT a prop dyno. prop dynos are not accurate. this is the standard that most engine companies are going to. the 3 and 5hp is out this is what you will get at the crank with good tune and pipe without taking into account weather and altitude. With kit means it isn't normaly a retail sale engine.
This is to keep the engine makers honest.

yep, and it's not a very well updated list either.....it's missing the axial .28 RR as well as the Picco .28's too....the one you misread is a 2.8cc not .28 (unless it's a typo)

I'd like to know the actual HP numbers on my SH .28-P6, not just the regular SH .28

The manufacturer has it listed at 3.86 or something crazy like that! But I know that is a bloated number!

Also this list contains alot of engines that are irrelevant to to savage users, such as, .12 size and .15 so forth. I have an RB TM728 but the list only contains the little v12 rody version which is no use in a Savage.

At least until they come out with the 8 speed trans for the Savage and a 10t CB and a 900t spur

So the LRP comes in second to the high dollar Nova Rossi... I'm happy I made the right choice. The OS30VG looks nice too with all that torque.

I also like the FIVE HORSEPOWER CEN .46 coming at 1.58 HP... what a joke!

now I'm gonna have to ditch my .26 maxx medium block and finger out a way to shoe horn the lrp .28 in her. I wonder what the picco .26 maxx puts out. Even with the baby exhaust port it yanks the front end up on my 2.5 tmaxx at about 15-20mph in full aluminum a-arms, full steel rollcage, and big alum bumpers . Doesn't even have 10 tanks through it either... so it's still tight.

Anybody have some other dyno lists/links? I'm curious to find out how the medium blocks stack up to big and small blocks.

I'd like to see what the new sirio .27 is putting out. I've heard it's as roudy as the nova rossi.

I did my own little analysis.. and I'd say the winner is...

STS D30M

Engine - Max HP - Cost - Cost/HP - Max Tq - Cost/Tq - Avg Cost/hp/tq

That's true, dynos don't lie.

Oh, they most certainly do. Especially from one dyno to another...and one day to the next. Case in point...DynoJet chassis dyno's are imfamous for *generous* dyno results. Mustang dyno's have been more accurate because you can set the load to what you want.

Another problem is the inertial dyno vs. the water-break system. The water-break system has shown over the years to be much more reliable and accurate.

If you do *all* these motors on *one* dyno in a single day under similar circumstances, then you'll have good comparison numbers. The numbers themselves may not even be accurate, but if you do them all in one day then you will have a way of telling what's making the best numbers and how the others compare.
