OK guys, it's time to get the 2008 SEMPRA season going! This will be the 4th annual Southern 500 in Mulberry Florida. We will be having a 1 day 428 race on March 22, a 1 day 422 on March 23. 424 will be racing both days for a 2 day 424 class race. Pole-up practice will be allowed all day Friday, March 21 for all classes. I know some of you come out to test your FAI and F5D stuff too, and that is all fine to do also.

Friday is a great day for testing or even getting some help to learn about 3 pole AMA racing. If you have ever wanted to race, have raced 2 pole 424 or just have a Viper/Predator with a stock 40, come out and see why we all make such a big deal about racing. I will be glad to help you get set up, test, and practice so you can experience the passion. 424 SEMPRA class runs Thunder Tiger Pro 40 engines UNMODIFIED with an APC 9x6 prop. We also limit your rpm to 16,500 with that prop, so you won't get beat by someone who is an engine whiz. If any of you would like to get into racing, feel free to contact me and I will help in any way I can. We can even arrange for some other practice days if you would like to get started.

Here is a .JPG of the flier for you, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

I had no idea the easter bunny was coming 2 weeks earlier this year, so the revised date for the race will be March 29-30, with open practice on the 28th.

Thanks!

Just a reminder guys, the race is just over a week away. If any of the 424 guys who wanted to get started still need any help, please contact me. (Cell# (863) 670-5141, home email - ssmith4710@aol.com ) Rick and I are planning on testing this Saturday (March 22) and will put the poles up. This will be a typical sport pilot flying day also, so we will have to share the airspace some! This would be a great time to get lots of 1 on 1 help and to learn the 3 pole course without the last minute pressures of the race.

If some of you 428 & 422 pilots in the area would like to come and play, let me know too. I would love to have you there also.

As a reminder, March 28 will be for all 3 classes (422, 424 & 428) open practice, poles up, racing planes own the field.
March 29 - 424 & 428 racing. Racing will start at 9AM. Test flights will be prior to 8:30 and after registration only. Testing after the race will go till dark.
March 30 - 424 & 422 racing. Racing will start at 9AM. Test flights will be prior to 8:30 and after registration only.

424 – 1 race, 2 day event
428 – 1 day event
422 – 1 day event

Please feel free to contact me anytime (Cell# (863) 670-5141, home email - ssmith4710@aol.com) and I will see you guys soon!

Just an update. The weather is looking good with a forcast of lows in the mid 60s and highs in the mid 80s for the weekend. It looks like we shoud have a nice weekend and a good turnout from the emails we have been receiving so far.

If you have not sent us your registration information yet, please send it to Rick at: rruede@tampabay.rr.com so we can get that done and only have to check your name in the matrix and collect funds. This will make it much easier for all of us.

Thanks a lot and see you real soon,
