Where did your CG come out to and have you test floan the plane yet? I am building one as i write this and helpfull info on where to locate things? could you post some more pics for the inside.

What is your dry weight.

I have a Dl going in this plane with a wrap around pitts muffler which weighs more than the stock muffler, and 3 inch standoffs.

Which standoffs are you using?

Thanks

craigteffe,

I plan on checking the CG tonight. I'm keeping my finger crossed. Just let me know what you would like to see and I'll take some more pics. The privious pics show battery location, servo locations, engine installation, etc.

Dry weight is between 15.5-16lbs. Bathroom scale.

I'm using the standoffs that come with it. I think they are 3".

CG is at 7 5/8" w/CG machine and weight is 15lbs with bathroom scale. The CG I'm confident with but I'm not sure about weight. I weighed it 5 times and it came in at 15lbs each time.

Don't worry about the weight. That plane has quite abit of wing area that'll keep it floating.

No, I haven't had a chance to get it up in the air yet. Holidays and bad weather have made it impossible for me to get out to the field. I don't think I've flown for 2 months. I will give you a full report when I get a chance to get it in the air.

Just finishing up on one of my wings and then i have one left then it will be on to fitting everthing in the airplane. It will most likely take me another 3 to 4 weeks to finish up.

Buy the way i have flown 4 time in the past week 55 deg weather, I have a Wild hare Yak that i am wearing out, getting excited about finishing this one. I hope it flys 3D as good as i hope it will.

I finally got a break in the weather to maiden my Hybrid. One word: AWESOME! 5 flights in total. I took it to The UPS Store and weighed it on one of those 10 degree days last week and it came out to 15.56lbs. The DL ran great but still slobbering rich. Even with it that rich it seemed to hover at 1/4 throttle and would rocket straight up out of a hover. On the second flight I harrier rolled it 4 complete circles and I feel like I could have ran the gas out doing harrier rolls. Slowest knife edges ever and knife loops are crazy tight. This plane is a blast! You definately don't need more than a 50cc engine for this plane. Build it light and put a DL 50 in it and you wont regret it. I also have an Extreme Flight 88" Yak with a Brillelli 60 on it and it does really well and has tons of power but I think that this setup with only 3 tanks of fuel and running rich already has better pullout. OUTSTANDING!

WOW!!
Can't believew how light you came in at. I hope when i get mine done its 16.75 at the most.

Good to hear that everything went well.

I have two of the Dl 50's and both run very strong.

Craigteffe,
If you are using a DL50 w/stock muffler you should be fine. I don't see how you could add 1.2 more lbs. I used only the lightest balsa in the back and even replace the real heavy ones. By placing the ignition battery where I did the CG came out exactly where it's recommended. I'm sure yours will turn out great also.

CWhite, thanks for that great flight report and I'm really happy you like the Hybrid so much. This is what really makes it worth it for me! That is an awesome AUW as well! Sub 16 lbs is fantastic. Sounds like the DL has also really made a mark in our 50cc class.
