Here are some pics of my almost-finished Hybrid. Try guessing where the color scheme came from. This is what is on it: DL50 w/stock muffler, HS5955's on all surfaces, (2) Elite 1500 6v packs on receiver, (1) Elite 1500 4.8 for ignition, control horns from Extreme Flight, carbon fiber control rods, and 7 ROLLS OF FILM. The weight came in between 15.5lbs and 16lbs (bathroom scale-so not very accurate). This kit has been a fun build and it looks great. Too bad there's snow on the ground and it's probably be a couple of months before I can fly it.

Beautiful job!
When you cover wings like that, is it red over white or white over red? I'm serious - I'm a covering novice

I know! Isn't that the Greg Poe Edge 540 scheme? Looks great! Sounds like a super light build job as well. Great job!

Here's some pics of rudder servo intallation, tank location, rudder and elevator hook-up and DL50.

LeeHop - I usually like to go dark over light but it didn't matter in this case because I had the purple stripes on both sides of the white. I think you can skin that cat several different ways and do a good job. Use as little as heat as possible to avoid bubbles.

CWhite, did you drill or cut a round hole in the firewall behind the carb for it to breath better? I had to do that for my DA 50 engines as the carb was so close to the firewall....kinda like the DL. I think the engines ran much better with this setup.

I'll definately take your advise on the hole in the firewall. Does there need to be an exit hole in the back for the air to circulate?

In the back of what? I did not put any hole elsewhere in the fuse if that is what you are asking. The carb doesn't really breath air from the fuse but rather the hole allows the air in the cowling to feed around the back easier...at least that was my theory! It just seemed kinda tight and closed off with the carb that close to the firewall. Plus with the choke valve open it will hit the firewall depending on how much spacing you have.

That is a sharp looking plane. Would you post a video of your first flight? I know we all would like to see that beautiful bird in the air. What did you think about the quality of the kit?

How did the CG come out. I have read that the Hybrid comes out a little tail heavy with a DA-DL setup. I have the fuse all done on mine and I'm going to start on the wings this weekend. I will be putting a DL in it. How did you get to the throttle and choke linkage to hook them up.
