Status: offline 		I have a spray bottle of rubbing alchohol. Cheap, works great on the plane, and on your hands to get the oil off before eating lunch

Status: offline 		i just use regular window cleaner in a spray bottle, try to find some without amonia(spelling)

Status: offline 		I brought this topic up only because now that im flying the great planes supersportrter mainly white and blue the 409 with rubbing alcohol dont seem to be cleaning it to well. I couldnt seem to see all the smears on my trainer ( lanier explorer ) which is yellow. thanks for all the info

Status: offline 		I'd use caution with Windex. That's what is commonly used for attaching Monokote trim to Monokote. It would seem to me that it MAY loosen the trim.

Status: offline 		windex with amonia will loosen trim.....I've used straight alcohol..now I use baby wipes..they all have pluses and minuses....

Status: offline 		The absolute best I've run across is a tid bit I got off of RCU. I mix a cup of rubbing (denatured) alcohol with a cup of windshield washer fluid. That stuff cuts through the grim and residue like you would believe. I won't use another mix, this stufff works too good. Joe

Status: offline 		I've found it isn't so much what your spraying on the plane to clean it, as it is what you are wiping it off with. Sprayway glass cleaner and microfiber rags here.

Status: offline 		Windex and the microfiber rags from Wallyworld for me. When the rags get too disgusting, a quick wash in a bucket with Tide and Oxyclean. Rinse, ring, dry, and they're ready for another couple months.

We use it on full size car and aircraft decals too. Just squeege out the excess and allow to dry. It does nothijng the the adhesives or glue used on decals or MonoKote.

While your statement is true as a slippery agent, the ammonia in Windex and Glass Plus does kick off the adhesive side on the Monokote. Take a small swatch and wet it down, stick it to a small swatch of white and let dry overnight. Peel off the next day and you will see the color left on the white.

It doesn't stick it well enough to not use trim solvent or iron the edges down, but it does start to activate it.

Status: offline 		Simple Green here. I buy it by the gallon (cheap too)! Then if you want the shiny look, just go over the plane with a dry microfiber towel and whamo, you got a nice lookin' plane.

How about putting a coat of automotive wax (pure wax - no polish or cleaning agents!) on a clean covering - should make cleanup easier.

Yea - I was about to test the theory on my Kadet Senior. But during the maiden voyage of the "waxed" Senior - the wings collapsed on a slow loop (15th flight for the plane). Nothing left but some memories ...

Status: offline 		i was told yesterday to use furniture polish (pledge) it will get rid of the smears plus make it shine. i personallly think that it would abigger mess next time you try to clean it after flying

Status: offline 		Brake parts cleaner from auto parts store or wall mart,leaves no residue and you can spray in cracks and your engine,looks new...........drys fast and it has'nt hurt any thing yet and I have benn useing it over a year.
