HBKII or Belt CP? Please help.....Thanks.

Eddietorres,

Hmmm, good question. You'll hear lots of pros and cons about both the HBKII and the Belt CP.. The Belt Cp is a little bigger. The big difference is in the linkage. The HBKII has direct linkage from the servos to the swashplate. The Belt CP is indirect, see picture.
Currently I have the HBKII and love it. Considering a Belt CP for the future. Probably any 300 size heli, has it's pros and cons.
What does your the LHS support, or your're dependent on online ordering, for parts. Also, parts for the Belt CP are a little more expensive, but not alot. Check it out. Just do some google searches.

No complaints about the HBKII since I have owned it. Cannot comment on the CP since I have never flown that one.

Yeah...my son has the HBKII with the brushless upgrade and it's
just a great little heli.

It looks and flys like a miniature MX450 or T-Rex to me. I've flown
it a few times and its very quick to respond. A newbie might wish
it had expo...which it doesn't.

I like it enough that I'm getting one too...

With all the buzz around the HBKII I'm even thinking of getting one. It's a very popular heli and you can't find bad words about it anywhere. I've heard pretty much the same thing about the belt CP. However if you just go with popularity I would say HBKII.

I am a little biased but I like the Belt CP I think it is very stable and easy to set up.

my latest is the falcon 3d cp with shaft drive tail - its a 400 size

not bad - if you knock the tail shaft the slightest bit out of line, she shakes like a 57 chevy with four flat tires going down a rough dirt road - you replace the shaft drive with 3$ deer-hunting arrow shafts (particular arrow number is on the falcon 3d thread)

rtf with gyro and brushless from hobby lobby in nashville for around 250$

flies like a trex 450/hbk2, but with a lot more twitchy attitude - flips too easy almost

not for beginners, but hbk2 fliers would like it (after they got used to it lol)- strange setup on the dx7 too with only 1 servo non-ccpm pitch control

If this is going to be your first Heli look at a CoAx design like the Blade CX2. If it isnt your first chopper either choise would be good both have there pros and cons.

cx2cp+ -> RE: Want to buy a new heli....which is better? (12/17/2007 7:53 PM)

what choppers said about getting something your lhs supports is very true - i'm online now to order some blade grips and a tail linkage for the falcon - no running down to the local hobby shop for stuff for this thing, unless you happen to live on the south side of nashville tennessee

No i have a sick blade cx2 (have pic and vides if anyone cares to view just let me know) so i was trying to move up to somthing a little bigger so this would be my first real heli.I'm just looking for some advice thanks,seens like the hbkII is a lot more popular.

eddietorres -> RE: Want to buy a new heli....which is better? (12/17/2007 10:02 PM)

The lhs here dose not care neither so it would be an online thing.sucks

There carry the falcon but i heard it takes some real skillz to fly that bird. every thing else there carry are kits trex ,raptor.

stump3r -> RE: Want to buy a new heli....which is better? (12/17/2007 10:24 PM)

The HBKII will be harder to fly than the Falcon F40. The F40/Walkera #4 is a fixed pitch machine or a step down from a collective pitch machine. Easier to fly and setup.
I would go with the Falcon, then once you are comfortable with that then move to the HBKII.

Just my 2 cents anyway :)

cx2cp+ -> RE: Want to buy a new heli....which is better? (12/17/2007 10:30 PM)

stumper - not the fp but the 400-size cp version - i now officially call my f3d the 'flying squirrel' cause it acts so tame then spazzes on you when you least expect it - there's nothing like the silence following a 400 size crash

yeah, i agree it takes some mad skillz to fly the falcon 3d cp, and i'm not even close yet - like today, it was doing so well i decided to try a some flips and those went well so i thought i'd try a piro flip again - the tail wandered and i overshot the piroette part, coming out sideways and as usual heading straight for me - tried to pull the tail around but by then it was nose in and i caught a tree limb trying to think what to do - i think maybe the tail servo moved (shifted position) on me - 20$ of parts and a really nasty dent in the boom but not bad enough to hurt the shaft - then as i pick it up the motor stays on the ground - the friggin brushless motor has come apart - sent a pic to hobby-lobby and they are replacing the motor at no charge

Thank you, thats what i need input.

cx2cp+ -> RE: Want to buy a new heli....which is better? (12/17/2007 10:40 PM)

lol - you need input and i need a new motor, a blade grip and a bell crank!

HAH!! STUMP3R, I CAUGHT YOU! YOU TRAITOR!! Ya get me all pumped up to get this Falcon 40 figured out, then you 'out' yourself as an HBK2 advocate. You slime-ball, bottom feeding . . . never mind. I feel better now. No offense intended. It's been a tough day. I'm on a caffeine / helicopter overdose.

Picking a first or new helicopter is really a tough choice. I just had my F40 out again. I have all of the links and such set for minimal response. Now that it knows my ability to control it is reduced, it tried to kill me. It missed. My buddy Jake the Bush jumped out and grabbed it right outa the air! Even frozen half to death, Jake was there for me. My falcon hates me.
