Congratulations on a successful test flight. It sure feels good to get the first one out of the way.

You will love the Z- P-47. It's huge and flies great. It would be nice to use a 4.2 or 5.8 cu in motor. The Zenoah 80 twin would be a natural. I may even put one in the new Corsair.

A true scale exhaust might be difficult but I have seen one with a short stack out each side of the cowl right in the lower cowl flaps. Not sure what version this might be but it sure looked cool. Sometimes scale features that really are not scale just have the 'right ' look. It's about illusion...if it looks scale then the illusion says it is scale. haha

Better start planting the balsa forrest. haha. Order about 1/3 more wood than you think you need in your wildest dream.

Think about adding the 'shrinking' gear struts. They would give it that nice bulldog look and still be able to retract correctly.

Have a good summer flying.

Hey Selleri,
How are the glaciers doing??? Hope they are not in as bad shape as our economy. haha It's not worth a wooden nickle as we say in the West. haha

How's the weather there??

It's really fun to hear from other parts of the world.

There were over 20 guys out day before yesterday and 2 jets. Dang those jets are cool. F-15 and F-18 They were everyday flyers and look like TopGun planes.

Well done Frank.........great when it all comes together. Did you need to add any ballast in the end?

Hello Glycol,

Yes, it needed a good lump of lead, approx 1/4lb. Really suprised at this due to the heaviness of the motor and the dome nut. I do like to balance em well forward thought. Ziroli says 4 to 4.5 back from leading edge of wing, i did mine at 4 to be on the safe side. It flies beatiful with the Z38 and i thoroughly recommend it. Next outing will get some flying pics.

Cheers,

Frank.

Thanks Frank, may well change my mind on the Z26 and go for the heavier option. Just good to know shes a delight to fly at the weight.

Hello all,

I have a question regarding prop sizes on the Z38. Im currently using a 19x8 Menz and it dosent appear to be a good combination. Once in the air its fine, but it struggles to pull it off the deck. Somebody has suggested using a 20x8, what do you guys think?

thanks,

Frank.
