I would like to know if anybody has experienced a problem with model airplane fuels [glow fuel] attacking certain plastics? I am in the process of plumbing a large plane with large tubing and have found the need to "cable tie" the fuel line to the fittings. I am not worried about the external fittings as I will be able to monitor them quite easily. However, inside the fuel tank is a different matter. Obviously, inside the tank the cable ties will be submerged in fuel. I would suppose a possible alternative would be to use wire cable clamps.

thanks, Scott.

As long as the cable ties are of quality, I don't think you will have any problem. Cable ties made by Thomas & Betts are made of nylon and are completely unaffected by fuel.

they'll probably work but on helicopters, we've seen where
the constant vibration weakens the tubing where you've
cinched down the tie.

We tend to take a very small piece of tubing, slip it over
the tubing and then push it back over the fitting so you
are in effect 'doubling' the amount of tubing over the fitting
and it makes a very strong connection.
