Wow is all I can say. This thing will push like in excess of 650HP and do low 3's for the zero to sixty runs. That's better than all the 300k plus ferrari's and lambos. The ZR1 vette will cost about 100 grand.

Agreed!

I think it will be a dynamite car, but I wish they'd use a different option package designation. The ZR-1s of the 70s and 90s have no equal (in my opinion, of course ), and that label of reference should remain their own.

Older Callaway Corvette, C-12. What about a Callaway C-16.

From last November 2006:

http://www.callawaycars.com/callaway/main/contentpages/press/C16LAShowReleasefinal.pdf

quote:

The Callaway supercharged 6.0-liter LS2 V8 produces an impressive 616 bhp at 6,200 rpm and develops 582 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The Callaway C16 does 0 to 60 in 3.3-seconds, and a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds. Top speed of the manual transmission coupe is 206 mph. Equally impressive is its fuel efficiency rating of 18 city/28 highway. It is emission compliant worldwide.

Trying to spend that $20M already?

Granted, the Callaway costs more than the ZR1 vette; however, I used to belong to one of the largest corvette clubs in the USA and there were numerous people who either owned and/or had owned a ZR1, but I never met one who owned a Callaway. My point: if you really want to stand out in the corvette community, perhaps a Callaway is the way to go and been seen.

I just sold my 97 Vette...Had it for 10 years..original owner. Great car. ZR1 probably will go for 10 grand plus over sticker...I'll have to wait awhile for the market to simmer down on that one

T&B...20M? You forgot about partners, investors, that very pesky IRS, NJ Tax, etc. which unfortunately leaves a much smaller fraction for my ZR1 fund

52% weight in front and 48% weight on the rear tires.

Quarter mile drags time = 11.0 seconds. weight = 3,550 lbs.

14 mpg city & 23 mpg highway.

376 cuibic inches and 625 HP , 625 ft lbs torque.

aluminum block & heads, dry sump oiling (8 quart )

The final HP number may even be higher than the 620-625 range. Buzz is that engineers are working on some final tweaks

I hope so ( HP increase)

I fear any HP increase will stress the head gaskets.

Also any increase will also increase tire spin, resulting in reduced performance.

Allmost every part of the car is matched to the HP level, any up set of power will require a lot of development time & money...

They can compensate for tire spin though with the traction control

I think they are saying the Nissan GTR and the Lotus Elise actually give the porsche a run. The Nissan supposedly bested the porsche on the nuburgring
