ok so here is my impression of the Trinity Now. First off this thing is wicked fast. This is the best out of the box setup ive seen in this scale. Everything in this truck screams down the street.

On to the bad things.

1. If you are a noob to the whole brushless thing, you will find out very shortly that the mamba is not programed for the use of lipo. the low voltage cutoff is disabled so that you can run Nihm packs. This should have been set at the factory so that noobs can not destroy there battery on the first run. By the way i had a guy bring it back to life, at least i hope so.

2. I wish they gave us the alum upgrade for the arms like the Trinity Next got in there RTR version. One little jump and you are going to the LHS for all new arms, trust me it was little.

3. out of the box the thing was missing a hub axle pin. didnt find out until i was only running 3 wheels.

4. The stock charger is a hit or miss, the thing decided to swell the stock battery and almost blew up my house. thanks trinity for the mini grenade in my home.

5. the transmiter was something that i would get when i bought a dinky rc toy at the swap meet. decided to hook up my Spektrum since i had a spare RX.

I know there is more bad then good but that is all RC, trust me i know (900 into my revo so far and is still givin me issues). But all in all the truck is a good product once you get past the headaches, and you will have lots of fun with it once there are more hop ups out on the market. Thank god that u can interchange the parts from a Next model into the Now.

So im guessing the next RC from trinity, will me calles Later.... lol

Well thats my 2 cents

Nice write up thanks for the info. I have always said just because something it RTR does not mean it is ready to run necessarily. Everything you mentioned I already have remedied for mine.

First off I got the alum. arms ordered as well. Will not be using the stock charger but my super brain 989. Got a lipo safe charge bag to put the batt. in when charging. Also have a spare spek RX here to use. Plus I am going to go through the whole thing and blue loc tite what needs to be done. Oh, I also have the Castle link ordered so i can reprogram if needed. Jeremy

jeremy the castle link is definitly the best way to go, but just so everyone knows u dont need one. The mamba escs are programmable with the transmitter through a series of beeps. Its harder but also saves you money

i just built a team xray m18mt.i will be using a mamba max 25 system. i was shopping around for a radio, batterie ,balancer and charger. this will cost me about 250 dollars give or take a few bucks. so i just ordered the NOW for 200 bucks from tower hobbies and plan on using an extra receiver and servo i already have for the xray. when its all said in done i will have saved 50 dollars and will have an extra car to bash with

Can someone tell me if the included radio is usable or not ?
Does it glitch with the brushless system ? How is the range ?
I know that is not comparable to a 2.4 GHz radio, my question is if it is usable or not ?

Of course it is useable. You will be fine with the stock radio.

Quoted from Maxamps website:

Regarding using “hard plastic” cases vs “PVC covering”. I am not going to argue that a hard plastic case in some cases would keep a pack from getting dented or damaged. However, I have flown an airplane with one of our packs into the ground at over 100mph and the pack bounced out and was fine. I have also flipped my RC18T at 70 mph and rolled it 15-20 times with a lipo pack. The pack flew out and bounced down the pavement and was just fine. We use a double layer of very thick pvc to cover our packs. It will hold up to pretty much any thing you would throw at it. Not to mention that most trays have hard plastic around them that will protect your pack in the event of a serious crash.

And to expand on that topic, Quoted from KitroKillers.com (MaxAmps' forums)

from Austin (MaxAmps' Owner)
"In my personal opinion, the way we do it now without the case is a better option for lots of reasons...."

And from Jason (MaxAmps resident Guru and otherwise)
"Li-Po's aren't affected by sudden impact blows. As others have stated here, hitting jumps and landing hard will not harm them......We watched The Traxxas crew and a few other vendors that were running our packs in cars at I-Hobby this year and they beat the heck out of the cars. They hit doubled up jumps and sent the cars up to at least 15 ft in the air and then smack down on a cement floor time after time. The batteries never had a problem. The only thing that stopped the cars was the suspesion blowing out of them from the beating they took. So as far as the everyday user just beatin' around the back yard you really don't need a "cased" or "skined" pack."

And those that know, know.

I own maxamp packs myself I like them. what I was trying to say is the Trinity packs are so cheap I just cant see spending $60 on the maxamps.. for this car. I am getting 20mins of run time with the 1350 packs.. and I like that they have Low Voltage circuit built in.. and at $30 a pop you cant go wrong
