Hey Jason, changing that clutch spring was the best mod ive done on that car yet (besides the Futaba) and yet, this weekend's weather is gonna be for crap just like last Sunday. Maybe i'll get VERY lucky and get home early from work tomorrow being that its gonna hit 70 degrees!!!

Allan, I wish I would have stopped by. I really didnt think anyone would show being so cold out.

If thats the case about the tires, Could you post some video runs with the new set? How much do they last?

Hi All, Well went out today and did more high speed passes. Unfortunately the wind in New Mexico is unbearable this time of year so I was running with a 20 to 25 mph crosswind. W ith that being the case the local r/c air park was open to me and only me!! Fresh pavement and long runways. Good times even with the wind. Top speed today was 48.1 MPH and the car was not running well on the top. I adjusted the carb a few times but it never seemed to get to that sweet top end sound. Something is amiss!! Anyway, I started of with out the body just to see how it would do with plan of runs with the body to do a comparison. Well, I was in a full speed sweeper bringing the car back to put the body on when I see a rear tire running down the runway and the car spinning out. I wish I had it on tape it was very funny after the fact!! Luckily it was only the nut to the rear tire that had worked itself off hence the tire blowing down the runway opposite the car After watching the tire travel another 4 miles so I could find it I went and picked up my car happy to see there was no damage. Found the tire, came home and put the tire back on and shes ready for another round. I did fire it back up again to try and work on the carb adjustments and found that after half throttle under a no load situation the the engine starts to have an uneven pull. Its like it is cycling, for lack of better terms. It runs and has a big RPM< variance. Any thoughts? With the way it was running today I feel that if I can get this carb issue worked out that 50+ is not a factor. IMO

Dou you have the stock exhaust on the car? If so, that could be choking the engine in the upper rpm range.

49.6 MPH this evening. Not only that much colder today,around 45 when I went out, and the f****** wind at 30 MPH so not exactly optimal conditions Went to lean it out a bit more when i noticed the differential gear getting very loose and, ofcourse, I left my T-handles at home so that ended the quest. I took off the TGN "high Performance" manifold that I was having the problems with yesterday and went back to the stock CY manifold. I'm sure the other manifold works well after hours of tweaking it...lol The TGN is the exact same height as the stock manifold but is a billet made out of delrin.? You have to turn the carb to the left another 15 degrees to get it to line up with the manifold so there is a little modification to hook up the throttle linkage. And in regards to Vette's question, yes the pipe is stock, hell the whole thing is except for the suspension. Not only that, the gear ratios are not that steep. Comming off the clutch bell your going into a 24 tooth spur to a 40 on the carrier to a 16 driving the diff which is a 48 . Everything else Ive seen seems to be 18 to 46 or 16 to 48. So i can definetly put higher ratio gears in the car!!! What do you think?

Hopefully I can get there tomorrow. It will be warmer and the wind is suppossed to take a break!!

So John how has the car been. What kind of problems have you had once you got the car out. I need to get new shocks or change the o-rings because they leak...big time. Any suggestions for shocks?

what wieght shock oil do you run and what does it come with? i read bout cutting the spings to lower it to a proper ride hight. what happens when there is no load on the shocks? would it be better to put restrictors under the shock piston?

I changed the stock oil to a 50/35 and I cant complain about the handleing. I don't khow if new o-rins will fix the leaks or new shokcs are in order. I also just received my new PMT Kronos tires. They are a 15 so they are relatively soft. I'm going to try 20's on the front and the 15 on the rear. Should be interesting to see how they stick. The 27/20 combo was sweet in the first place.

have you tried the eclepse tires yet. mine should be here on monday. i got 20's but im not sure how they will be. i wanted to get the krono's but they were out of stock.. im alsow putting in fg stabilzers all around. i havent cut the springs yet, but i did take out the motor oil looking shock silocone and put 55 in back and 45 in the front. havent tried it yet but im sure it will be better.
what kinda pipes are you guys running. the stock pipe is strangling my motor, but im not sure what to get or even whats hot.

I'm still running the stock pipe too. I have no dea what to get. For the money I've been leaning toward the FG Pipe but I really have no clue what to get for it. BTW, do not get the Walbro 813 carb and try to run it with the stock pipe. It sucks!!! lol

Hi all, Its been awhile since my last post, work is busy so no complaining here. Since my last post back in June my car has gone through several changes. First and foremost, I had to replace the chassis, the original Hobbypro chassis was weak as it was and then when a friend drives your car into a concrete base of a light pole at basically full speed, parts must be replaced. Lol Base of light pole: 2 feet in diameter, parking lot that was empty, 3 football fields in size...go figure. Well I think it was fate anyway. I called the boys at FG supply and Austin set me up with a smokin' carbon fiber chassis, used of course, with a gas tank and the quick change bumper. Also it had the extra pieces on the chassis to increase the stiffness. had to do little mod to the right engine mount but other then that perfect. Thank You Austin!! I have the car back together finally and went out for high speed passes and I finally broke the 50 MPH mark. 51.9 MPH with, get this, self Ported 23 cc CY motor, the stock HobbyPro pipe, the 813 Walbro carb, gear ratio at 24/39 and no body on the car. It was on. I' hope to get the picture of the GPS on shortly so everybody can look. I was happily surprised. Cant wait to get a pipe!!

mstalli. that cool to here aistin set you up.. doesnt suprise me though. those guys are awsome.. ive been racing my gt-40 and suprisingly it does pretty good. im the one that needs all the work!lol.. in this video, im running it completly stock, minus the tires and plus front stabilzer unit.. i'll be racing again next weekend with a better equipped driver(me) and some sweet add-ons. hopefully i'll do better, but the rig held up great!

THats awsome that you get out and race!! Congrats. I think I'm the only person that owns a 1/5th scale on-road car in the state of New Mexico. So I have to stick to friends that cost me alot of money or, as I witnessed today, My car flying through the air AGAIN end over end only to land back on all four tires and limp its way back to me with a broken rear stabilizer.

The flight test it took was all due to, what should be called an off-road track, rough pavement. If it's not rough pavement its called curbs. LOL. What can I do? still gotta drive it. Your car looks good with all the battle scars, keep it up!!
