Status: offline 		I am building a extra 300 with a 12 cell A123 pack with a CC hv110 esc. I will be using 5 servos(not digital) I will probably make a reciver pack out of some A123 cells..

I have heard some mention of requlators. what is this and when do you need this regulator.

how many cells do I need for the reciver pack if I use A123 cells

Voltage regulators of which there are two kinds. Linear and switching. Used most often to provide either 5 or 6 volts to the receiver / servos from a higher voltage battery such as a 3S LiPoly.

When you are so good that you can tell the servos are slowing down alittle because the receiver pack has lost a little voltage or when you want to impress your flyning friends because you have more gadgets that they do..

Ill power my shp with a 12s A1123 pack and the reciever with a 2s A123 or the A123 1100mAh

INCARUS.

Keep it simple.
If you are a unlucky person, there is NO GADGET that will save you.
Battery, motor, ESC, rec., servos-nondigital. That is all you need to fly any size plane.
Do not try to be super perfect. The GADGETS fail as often as other parts......

Relax!!!!!!!!!!!

having looked at all the power expanding devices for sale -and the inclusive regs and balancers (what the fuc- are those good for ) It looks to me like most of the products were designed to enable use of those low output LiIon cells which were/are accidents waiting to happen.
A cell which is subject to failure from overload - overcharge - over discharge undercharge -you name it.
I never could understand that game----
The LiPos some guys strap in now -into high vibe enviroment -really surprises me - these suffer from much of the same technology attributes - but they do allow heavy discharge - for a time-----till the delicate assembly setups turn to crap-- My last go around with these was a dis assembly of a large pack -to make smaller packs - tho I had ZERO contacts or shorts - two cells were zip- I threw the mess away - the final straw-
Having subjected my 2300and 1100 ma packs to cruel and unusual use - -but no sledge hammer stuff-
I really think they are NOT simply an alternate method -but - a far better method.
The NiMh technology of the present is now very good -but do a cell count - 5 Nimh cells to do what two A123 will do?
let me think about that one --
