Ok, I do enjoy getting and reading SOME of the MA.
I feel they are gearing too much to an older reading crowd. I feel left out as a young flyer, but im not saying they left us out, just not much towards us.
Like i said, I like the mag, but would rather get 1 mag from RCflyer than 12 from the ama.

Never heard of RCFlyer! Did a search and all I could find was someone's personal website devoted to himself. R/C Sport Flyer does exist and if this is what your talking about, I agree, it's a great magazine!

What is Model Aviation missing that could make the younger folks like it better? Remember that Model Aviation must cover all aspects of the sport, not just the one(s) that you feel are important! It can't be just about R/C (all though 95% of it is) or just 3D, or what ever you feel there is too little of.

Having been a member of the AMA since I was in my mid 20s, I fail to see what your talking about!

Chaces are that you are a fairly new member of the AMA (just a guess). Chances are also good that you don't realize what the Official AMA magazine (Model Aviation), really represents to all the members (not just a few, nor just those of us who are interested in radio controlled model airplanes).

1. Model Aviation is not geared toward any age group.
2. Model Aviation must address all the diciplines that are represented by the AMA.
3. You have probably never written the AMA, and told them exactly what you would like to see.
4. You probably have never participated in more than 2 or 3 diciplines found within this hobby.

I suggest that you might consider having a closer look at some of the other interests to be found within this hobby, and you might find that there is a great big world out there filled with things other than what you like, or in which you have an interest.

Thanks Hoss and i suppose it was to hard for you. So I am talking about the magazine that is the mainest topic of Discusson on the AMA site. And that would be the AMA Magazine you recieve in the mail each month. I myself enjoy recieving it and I make sure i look at all the pictures and even a few articles now and then. I have tried to reproduce a couple color schemes from the front cover. Liked the one that had the giant Suchi in a red white and blue with stars all over was a beautiful plane. But I am no where near good enough to make it look like that one. Maybe it was an ARF?????? I believe that all in all most folks enjoy it. But you either like it or don't.

At this moment you have 33 people who have responded by saying they are o.k. with the magazine and 8 who say they don't like it. Why this is a hot topic here is simply because it is a few peoples interest. One in particular would like to opt out of receiving it and has made this their personal campaign to get AMA to comply with their wishes. Others are concerned with the financial situation with the magazine and that it is using your an my dues to pay for the publishing of the magazine which then offers reduced advertizing rates to model airplane manufacturers and and other support equipment suppliers. In some instances the AMA, through the magazine, is in direct competition with the model airplane industry and I think this should stop!

As is shown, most of us are at least mildly interested in receiving it, if not strong supporters of it.

rofl Mode maybe so. Just thought this might be the best way to really find out if most folks like getting the mag or not. This way all they got to do is say yeah or nay. After all it has been discussed in every post so this way no discussing or cussing. Just about everyone has a valid opinion one way or the other this way you don't have to hear anyones but yours lol. MERRY CHISTMAS EVERYBODY.
