I missed this in the other forum (Q-500 424 race January 12th Hodges Hobbies), so I'm posting it here in General Discussion as well.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SCPYLONRACER

The first race of the 2008 Hodges Hobbies Racing Series pylon race will be January 12th at Hodges Hobbies in Americus GA. Quickie 500 (424) 2 classes: “A” Expert class for the experienced racers and a “B” Sport class for the new racers. For this race we are asking for on-line registration so we can get the racing started a little earlier. http://www.hodgeshobbies.com/pylonracingform.htm

If any of the Club 40 guys are interested in racing you can run with the B-Class Quickies at this race. As Club 40 racing develops we will consider add a separate class for these airplanes at our races. If you have in the Club 40 class at Hodges please contact Mac at 866-924-9505.

I spoke with Mac on Thursday and there are some groups in the Atlanta area that are picking up on the Club 40 concept.

If you're in the Georgia, South Carolina, or North Florida area, this should be a fun time.

I'd be willing to go down to Hodge's for a Club 40/424 race. I've been to Mac's 424 races a number of times over the last two years and always had a great time. A great facility, a great hobby shop, a great group of 424 racers, and Mac's great hospitality make for a good time. His hobby shop is just about the best one I've ever been to. When I lived in Florida, I'd drive up to those races (7+ hr drive). Now I'd have to go down there from Nashville (7+ hr drive) - - but it's worth it.

Let's encourage Mac to have some Club 40 races (and then we should actually show-up, I suppose).

The race this Saturday is shaping up to be one of our best. Lots of entrants in Quickie and a great signup for our initial run of the Sport 40 class. I think this is going to be a very popular class. And the weather forecast looks good. Check the website in the morning and if you are not registered or there is a frequency discrepancy, email or call me at the shop and I will get the correct info to Robin. Again, if you are planning on racing and haven't registered, please do so tonight or give me a call tomorrow.
We still need helpers Saturday. A gallon of fuel for helping and a front row seat! Thanks in advance! We need you here before 10AM.

See you Saturday, Mac

At Hodges we fly the AMA 3 pole short course.

The black & white scan of the results don't show the fast times that were printed in red.

424 Keith Douglas 1:17.40
Club 40 James Barr 1:44.81
