Hey Keith,

Have you got that bird in the air yet??????

I Finally got my DL50 and WH Edge 540T airborn last nigth and WOW....what a package.!!!!!! Only have about 3 tanks through it right now, but it seems to run beautifully. Havn't even tweaked the needles yet, but will after a few more flights. Right now taching at about 6600 RPM's with a Xoar Sword 22X8. Starting is very easy, about 6 or seven flips with choke on...fires, choke off 4 flips and she's running. The engine idled really well at about 1500 which set the aircraft up for perfect landings...slow but responsive.....it was a
**** cat to land......

It pulls this aircraft around with ease, great vertical uplines with some good right rudder added....might try to tweak the engine offset a bit to counter act, unless someone has another idea. Engine response was excellent and Low rates to start out with were more than enough to do good IMAC series manuvers. The CG is set right now at 5 1/8 with about 5oz. added to the front just in front of the fuel tank, 5645's for elevator and a 5955 for the rudder mounted in the mid section servo mount location. 1 A123 1700mah up front and 1100 mah NiHd and ignition mounted up under the cowl. I figure on adding a smoke system later which will take the place of the added wieght. Used the Bisson Lg. Pitts style muffler and it sounds awsome.

I'm really happy with the DL50 performance, excellent engine for the money. Ordered and recieved my second one from Bob at DL USA about 2 weeks ago.

The Wild Hare Edge is a perfect match for the DL50. I love this aircraft.....its almost like flying one of my low wing trainers but will do so much more. Thanks Tom for all your help and information, I'm sure I'll be ordering another WH product soon.....need another aircraft for my second DL....

Keith, let me know how things are going with yours....Some fligth reports...etc...LOL
Take care!!

Mike

Hi Mike,

Congratulations on your first flights! Glad you like the Edge.

Some family and work issues have my hobbies on hold for a bit, but I am within a few hours of getting mine completed - so, I haven't flown it yet. I hope July will be my month!

Thanks for the update on your project,

Keith

I find it hard to believe that there doesn't seem to be more of a following for this plane. I have one, (having had two V2 84" Extra's), and absolutely love the Edge. It is the best flying plane I've ever had, by far! I'm running the 3w 56i B2 twin, and love the combo. Maybe I'm wrong though, and this is Tom's best seller!?

Surely you are not paying attention.

The 28% Edge is Wild Hare's best selling airplane, and as such it is widely seen and understood. Maybe because it's not brand new it doesn't get the wild press, and I don't have shills in the forums talking up my planes like some other vendors do.

But trust me the Edge is one of the most popular 50cc planes out there.

Well Tom, it deserves and needs it talking up!!! ;-) I'm not saying that there aren't many out there, but how ever many there are out there, there should be ten-fold more! :-)

Vid of mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C8qBvOaZ28 (taken when I first got the plane).

What can I expect of the Sukhoi in relation to the Edge?

Best regards,

Mike.

Sukhoi is draggier because of the round cowl and slightly more stable because of the swept wiong, otherwise they are similar.

Hi all:

I've enjoyed reading through this thread. I have just finished mine done up in a "sorta" Greg Poe color scheme: I changed the underside for a red checker board instead of the solid purple. I can see this a lot better in the air. I installed the same evolution 58 cc. engine I had on my V1, as the 50ccers seem to lack a bit of power in my area: In Mexico City I start flying at 8000 ft. I did this on my V1 and it proved a great combination. Should be even better on this airplaane with the lighter wing loading. The only thing that has me a bit uncomfortable is that there is a bit of play with the wing tube; both in the fuselage and the wings. It makes it a lot easier to mount the wings but.....Of all the ARF's I've built, this is the only one where I've had this happen. It was certainly tighter in the V1. Have you guys had the same thing and is it a problem I should worry about? I'd like to know before I go out and fly it (which I'm dying to do!!). I'd really appreciate a comment.

Saludos,

Javier
