Hi All,
Building a wing, bare skeleton, sheeted with 2 mm depron. will apply two layers 3/4 oz cloth. I also have 2 oz. cloth. No vacuum bagging just brush a squeege. Was wondering which would be stronger? Two layers 3 /4 or one layer 2 oz. Which would be lighter? Opinions?

Thanks
Al

In both cases the two layers of 3/4 cloth will be stronger, stiffer and lighter if applied correctly. Cloth weight is stated in ounces/sq yard. The generaly accepted ratio of cloth to resin is equal weight of each. Therefore the weight saving with two layers of 3/4 cloth will be 1/2 ounce/sq. yard over the one layer of 2 ounce.

For strength lay on the first layer of 3/4 cloth. Use your favourite method of removing excess resin. before the resin has completely cured (Still kind of tacky) squeegee on the second layer with the weave at a 45deg angle to the first layer.
