Originally posted by evan Frequency hogging by the float planes was B.S.
I guess is all depends on your perspective. I got it from the horses mouth. Once when the setup crew was discussing this prior to the event as an issue from the year before, and once when they announced during the event that they were aware there was a problem with 'frequency availability' between the two flight lines, and that they had assigned a person to run the frequencies back and froth to resolve it. If there wasn't an issue, I don't know why they would announce it to all the pilots in attendance In either case, assigning frequencies specifically for float flying, and separating the flight lines by doing so, is a good way to resolve the issue (or non-issue), as one is no longer dependent in any way to the other. Peace for all Night flyers, or any other airplane flown 'after hours', including float planes, do not have to be IMAA legal. Only those flown during the regular event hours (9-5 I believe). All they are doing is making the entire event IMAA legal, which is always was supposed to be from the start.
